Just got a 2017 SR5 4x4. I want to go with a 285/75-16. Any objections with a 3" lift (strut spacers and blocks) and 1.5" wheel spacers on stock wheels? Or what is a good setup for this?

No id be good with that or a little less. I plan on running 275s. I just hope the different extended and compressed length (different than the 2nd gen) is going to work out ok.

Im actually in the same boat as you and plan on 3rd gen simply because after settling I dont want to dip below 2". That would seem like a waste of money and might as wel stay stock height

Totally agree with you. I have a set of ray10s in my basement right now. The offset on them seems to make it just a little more difficult to fit a bigger tire then say a Sema TRD wheel, so I'd really like to stay at 2in or slightly above to keep from rubbing.

Hello all, Im obviously a total newb here and know nothing of Suspensions etc. A little background, I am an Engineer with an extensive firearms background and basically that just means that my Tacoma is just my next very expensive hobby and thing to spend too much money on. Than being said, I am the proud owner of a 2016 Tacoma double cab short box.. It is sitting on P265/65 17s and stock wheels. I am getting ready to put Fab Fours Vengeance bumpers front and rear on it and I am wanting to do a lift. I am looking for some advice/insight from the group here and see what I can learn and if there are any bear traps to avoid. I would like to know if there is a brand(s) that are better etc. Just the need to know. I did some lurking on here last night and tonight and decided it best to just ask the group and get input. I am in the Austin Texas area and there are a few shops here that I am aware of, 4 wheel parts is the one I am most familiar with. I am not wanting to go ridiculous on the lift, likely not above 4" I do a lot of hog hunting and such and typically get off into pastures and muddy areas but that is typically it. I would like to get a little bigger tire but not wanting to buy new wheels just yet.

There are some guys running Spidertrax Spacers on stock wheels on here. Just read the last 5 or so pages of this thread to get an array of opinions on the lift ideas.

Just speaking from experience with my current setup (2nd gen's/887's) the estimate's listed by headstrong very were accurate.

I figured I'd be good with anywhere between 2 to 2.5 in of lift. I thought about going 888s but most ppl are reporting 3in of lift with thoes.

OME suggests using 888 with a light bumper or winch. The added weight would drop the front. Without the extra weight up front I do believe they will get you closer to a 3" front lift. 885 and 887 are similar but I think without the added weight the 887 will get you over the 2-2.5'" lift for sure after settling. I question using 885 getting above or at 2" of lift.

I haven't ordered my lift yet but from what I have found the lift on a LB will vary which is what I own. The pdf doesn't include some criteria like a DCSB or DCLB.

You're talking the rear, with the bed being a little longer you're expecting this to influence the front lift from the coils? Do you know what the weight difference is between the two, not sure if Toyota specifies this?
I wouldn't imagine there is a big difference in weight and this is probably why they don't bother listing the difference on the PDF. Also if you are hearing different numbers this probably because people measure different, maybe don't know how to use a measuring tape, are not on level ground, have a speaker system with and amp and additional added weight in the cab, ...... there's so many things that can influence the end result.

    all tore up already
then you will understand the perfect lift for you is as easy as finding me the perfect gun. there is no correct answer. and there are as many variations of lifts as there are different ways to fire a projectile. research research research.

I guess this was my point, so many variables. But I do think the extra foot will make a difference. Also, for those of us that want some rake after the lift then this is also a consideration.

My truck aligned with stock UCA's. I'm lifted 2 inches. You should be fine. If I were to do it again I'd go little higher.
