2.25" in the rear, settled a bit. I removed the overloads with advice on this forum and could NOT be happier. Research showed me the ride was very rough to very firm with the overload in. Took it out and am pleasantly surprised how the truck rides. It's silky smooth on the road and takes whatever I throw at it offroad.

You will love it. if I had any reservations, trust me, I would tell you to save your money or go elsewhere. But I love it.

I have heard that ICON and Headstrong are very close in design so you might look at that if price is a concern.

    Good luck. Hope that helps

I have the 3.4L V6, its a 2004 TRD Offroad. Plenty of power, changed out the plugs, did a tune up, new filters, belts, etc. It was in great condition but who knows, you know? It's plenty strong for the tires and set-up for me...quick and peppy. Wont take anyone off the line but higher speed (75-80 mph) extremely solid.

I would think you would be fine with your engine. These things are bulletproof and I believe many on the forum have 4 bangers with these tires. You might ask over in the tire forum too...might get additional info.

    Hope that helps

Making me want to go with kings after all. And am thinking about removing the overloads on my dakars. Just not sure how I feel about the coilovers needing serviced from time to time...

Do it brother. I look cool at the mall. You'll be cool in the AZ deserts! Advantage: you.

Maintenance doesn't bother me. gives me a chance to get my hands dirty..bonding with the truck  And this truck is not my DD so miles will be low, few and far between.

Take out our overloads. If you're not hauling heavy, you'll send me a Christmas present. Trust me.

yeah.. maintenance isn't a problem, as far as wrenching goes. But I was meaning the part where you have to send them in to be serviced. I guess I could keep my old shock assemblies and throw those on while that takes place. because mine is a dd. Idk. I just feel that some ome coils would be sufficient for now. along with the overloads out. Maybe once everything else is buttoned down how I want it, I'll pull the trigger on some kings.

Quick question about tires... What are the reasons to go with a larger tire (33 or 285) rather than a smaller tire (32 or 265/75) other than the looks and slight offroad capability improvement, if any? From what I understand, going with a smaller tire would give the driver better power without regearing, better handling, better "wheel-fit" in the wheel well, better mpg, and less rubbing.

Is this logical or am I just out of my mind and totally missing something. I've been thinking about this one topic for a good 3 weeks or more because I'm in the situation of wanting to go down to 265/75r16s (on a stock alloy wheel) from a 33x12.50x15 (on a steel wheel).
Btw, I have a 2.5" lift and 1.5" in the rear.

Well, I went with 12.50s cause I'm not a bitch. So there's that.

Whats the reasoning tho besides looks? Cause I'm on 12.50s now and I'm not gonna deny that it looks badass, but wouldn't it be smarter for a student-aged person on a low budget 24/7 to get smaller tires.

There's not really a upside to them besides them being better off road spreading the weight out more

Agreed. But my main priorities at the moment are mpg, power, and rubbing (I'm kinda a freak about stuff not being perfect idk why). I did the pinch weld mod and trimmed a bit more but my tires still sound like they are gonna rip something off my truck when I turn over 3/4 the way and when I turn slightly while backing up. And thats all on flat ground.

Thats what im thinking. But bigger tires do look great if you have the money to do a regear, enough lift, and a little extra gas. Especially since I'm on a 4 banger.

Because you have 12.5's. Plenty of 33's and other sizes that don't have that big of work involved to clear them. Sounds to me like you have already answered your own question. Get some smaller tires that suit your needs/wallet because that's what you will be happy with.

Thanks for the needed reassurance. Hopefully I can get it done once I get some Christmas money so I can have some extra money to fall back on lol.
