Would adding 1.25" wheel spacers make the ride worse and/or stress any of the suspension components?

No effect whatsoever on the ride.....with the 1" spacers I'm using.....I don't see how or why another 1/4" would change that.

I've ran these for almost 73,000 miles now and no unusual wear or noises from front end/wheel bearings/suspension/ect.....Wheel spacers do NOT cause any problems that a dished wheel wouldn't....In spite of many "theories" by people who have never used spacers....Long story short, I wouldn't hesitate for one second to put spacers on my NEXT truck, nor am I regretting using them on this truck in any way, shape or form....

Perfect! Thanks for the knowledge as I will be installing spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers with extended lugs very soon to my 265/70/17 BFG KO2s on stock suspension.

Here it is before with the 265's

image.jpg Here it after the lift with the 265's

    image.jpg

Well here is mine with 265/75/16's on a bilstein 3inch lift. I think i may stay with the 265's. I have been thinking about going with the 285's but i believe i still just stick with the 285's. Hope you like it and it helps!!!!

Ok, I got home and took some measurements.
    Front -3.5 inches of lift
    Rear- 3.5 inches of lift
Normal spray paint can for reference
    265/75/r16
If you are going to be doing alot of offroading and you don't want to rub your fenders or you are competing in a "how many midgets can I fit in my fender well" contest, then I would recommend 265s. Any other application I vote for 285s hands down.

The same shit everyone else has.
Ive been on them for the past 3 years with no issues. My old ladys JK has had em on it for 2 years now with no issues as well.

Both vehicles ride and track better with the spacers. The wider stance makes the truck more stable on the highway

After trying the 245, 255, 265, 285, I have to say 265 is the way to go IMO

    Truth.

I'm probably going to try a set of 285/75/16's as my next tire....I'm on 265's now. The typical 285 is less than 1" total taller than the 265/75/16 Duratrac's I'm on now. That would gain me less than 1/2" more ground clearance, at the expense of rubbing in several areas of the front end. Not to mention killing gas mileage.... Not sure why I'm so set on making the change, other than just "looks". 265's don't rub. A load range C 265 still gives me good gas mileage. They look just fine. (I'm on a 3" front lift/2" rear lift)

Long story short, I know for a fact that shortly after I make the change to 285's, I'm going to wish I'd stayed with 265's....

I would go 255 before 285 anyday. Rubbing issues, gas mileage, and weight make the 255s better IMO. All preference though. I had a set of P rated revo 2s that were 285 and I loved. Most people like the LT tires but they were strong enough for anything I towed

If/when I make the change, it's in order to get a wider tire just for that look. I've studied on the idea of 255/85/16's and may end up that route some day. I know what problems I'll be causing, but just have to try it....

Love it, but I want 285s. Making the switch to 16s as well. I just want more beef.

I thought that too but in person I dont find you can even really notice the 285s being bigger at all

Some brands of tires look bigger than others. I have someone else's Tacoma parked in my driveway right next to mine at the moment. It has the exact same lift. We're both running same exact wheels. Mine has 265 Duratracs. His has 285 Duratracs. The 285's look ENORMOUS compared side by side.

Great info in this thread. Currently trying to decide on a lift but I will be sticking with 265's.

I was really considering/ wanting going up to 33's but driving 50 miles a day most days I stayed with the 265/75/16. Some great looking rigs on here with that size helped me make up my mind too. Going to have to lose the little front flaps with the Duratracs (C load range) that wasn't affected with my Cooper ATPs.
