Yeah for sure, the kings are great, dont get too crazy with the preload like me. I actually broke my allen into the allen bolt in the adjuster nut, so I'm stuck cranked up. Accutune recommends at ride height with a 14" spring the length to be no shorter than 12" and I'm at 11". Resulted in just a little coil bind at full tuck. But the ride is a lot better than it was, and it jumps like a beast with a nice no bounce landing.

I'm running extra weight over my front end with steel armor (cbi bumper and skid plate) so the 550's work good. Honestly if you want a full 3.5" lift run the 600's that it comes with they are super stiff to daily and feel like hell on speed bumps but you dont have a ton of preload, no coil bind, and if you run steel bumper, skid plate and a winch itll feel fine.

600's would be great for cali, at least where I lived with not 1 speed bump in sight. But I'm from HI and I don't think we have a road (not including highways) with less than 20 pot holes and 5 speed bumps per mile lol, soft ride is important for me.

I'm planning on doing a camburg 3.5" LT in the next year or so and I'm most likely gonna run the 550's on that too, also get them valved soft to get a cloudy feel. But if you want to know your number I'd definitely talk to accutune, great guys with a free spring change out policy, easy shipping in the continental US

The rear window is held in with adhesive (like the front windshield) and a couple nuts.
Sliding windows were installed in regular cabs only if the customer ordered the truck with one.

Thanks for the update. I don't have any plans for a steel bumper. Is anyone else running coils that are under 600# other than you? I am really surprised there is not more information about this with all the 2.7 reg cabs around here. Are most of us just ok with a bone jarring ride on the little trucks?

    @AccuTune Offroad
Can you shed some light on this issue. What considerations should the 2.7 regular cab guys consider when upgrading suspensions and what options are out there?

Did you paint the bumpers and flares or change the front end?
Oh shat! You have a Sport hood too?

Thanks buddy:D Unfortunately I don’t have a build thread/write up since my truck is basically stock:notsure: Besides wiring up the rear view camera(stock tailgate was stolen), swapping out the head unit from a 2014, and adding sounds, all other mods have just been aesthetic. My goal was to make my little regular cab look like a trd pro:thumbsup: still need a few parts (skid plate, color matched mirrors, led taillights) but it’s coming along!

Hey Yotabilly! I got the bumpers and flares painted. I wish I knew about the front end swap before, I used to have a 2006 single cab before this truck. However this one is definitely much more comfortable since it has the bucket seats and center console;)
Haha yes as you can see I am a man of culture:rofl: I got the trd sport hood from my local Toyota dealer through my cousins employee discount. Then I got it painted through their collision department for a really good deal! I also added the trd pro grill while I was at it:cool:
Thanks for checking out my truck brotha!

Thank you brotha:thumbsup: I’m hoping to get to some more performance related mods now since aesthetically it’s about wrapped up. Definitely going to be getting work done on the suspension soon, I’ve also been tinkering around with the idea of adding a turbo. All in due time!

I've heard of a prerunner running 400lbs on a +4.5" LT with 8" travel coil-overs. Don't worry I felt the same way, for one not many are on kings lol, I know a guy who went to 700lbs springs with a rc with armor and a winch, I think my truck would snap in half with that set up
I feel to get the ideal ride quality I have to go to a +3.5 LT so I can get an 8" travel coilover and run a dual rate spring, that way I'll be on the tender spring for most of the daily ride. Plus as weird as it is a 400 over 500 spring rate will act like a softer spring. I'm still trying to understand it all

I swapped my 600# springs for 500# with stock preload. That's on King OEM Performance Upgrade shocks with no adjusters. Currently no armor. It feels harsh on small obstacles with the E rated STT Pros and stock valving. I plan to install some quality leafs and soften the valving. Maybe go to 550# springs. I will also get a lower load range tire next time.

20191021_183629.jpg it took me a while but I finally got the Allen out of my adjuster nut's bolt lol. As you can see I drilled a small hole in the side of the head and while I did that I could see it slowly popping out until it finally did

And yes the kings look like crap, they will get a rebuilt soon and I'll re powder or maybe cerakote them while they are apart

Were you running a stock suspension before this? Can you compare the stock ride to the ride with the 550# springs? The stock springs are 590# right?

I went from stock, to 600 lb to 500 lb springs. I think stock must be around 500 lbs because that's where I achieved normal ride height approximately. The 600s raised the front at least 4".
Ride quality is way better with the Kings to say the least. They're just not dialed yet and I think the valving needs to match the spring weight. The E range tires make you feel everything also.

Hello, first post here. I am getting a 05 single cab in a week. Manual transmission with about 150K miles. Two questions. First, what’s the largest tire I can fit while keeping stock height? It will be daily driver, so fuel mileage and comfort is my concern. I don’t need to necessarily install the largest tires that I can fit, I just want to know what my options are. Also the rims it currently has are aftermarket, and I don’t really like them. The truck rides incredibly bumpy. I’ll list the tire size once I find out what they are. They appear to be a wider, shorter tire than stock. Driving it is like riding on a pogo stick. Second question, besides the basic oil change etc, what else should I check before I drive it regularly? I do know that when I push in the clutch to change the gear, it makes a sort of whine sound only while the clutch pedal is pressed. I read up on that briefly, it’s either the clutch throw out bearing, or something else related to that, I just forgot what it was. Ok, that’s all. Thanks.

I like this look. What size tires are on it currently in this picture? And most likely I will pick up a set of stock rims and paint them black, like he did. Looks simple, and changes the look for the better while cost effective.

I thought I’d post a couple pics of An ‘86 4x4 I had for quite a while. A deer incident on the highway wiped out the bed so my brother, son, and I built the flatbed for it.

If your looking to keep it stock height, I'd suggest keeping stock size tires just in an all terrain which from factory are 245/75/r16, I put a set of 265/70r17's on and had very small amount of rub. the size difference between the two however doesn't make much of a difference. If you don't like the wheels on it check craigslist for a factory set of wheels or a different kind of aftermarket. Smallest wheels you can fit are 16" so keep that in mind. Stock shocks on these are terrible, but cheap to replace, there is a warranty from toyota that replaces the leaf springs so I'd have that checked too, a nice little upgrade would be to get Bilstein 5100 shocks and struts, you can keep the stock height and have an improved ride. These trucks like to get frame rot so check the inside of the C shaped frame around the rear leaf spring perches, its a common spot to go, besides that these are very reliable slow little trucks.
The first pick is stock height on 265's and the second is leveled with bilsteins
