Hey guy I just picked up a regular cab 6 Luger with 100,000 miles. Rear leafs were done under recall 8000 miles ago. Im looking to level the truck out or have a very slight rake. Right now its raked almost 2” I’ve done a ton of research and I know I want to do Billy shocks and im think ome springs but I don’t know if I should do 883s or 884s. Im planning on running 265/75/16 tires by fall and don’t want to mess with the leafs. Any advise or pictures would help.

2.5 inch lift: Full Dobinson's suspension kit, Freedom Off-road UCAs, 265/75r16 tires on factory Baja alloy wheels. x2 Baja Designs Squadron Sport Led Pod lights. If you just want a very slight rake, get 5100s and put the snap ring on the first setting. You might have a half inch of rake at the most unloaded. I have never used 883s but my understanding is that they will level the truck.

Here's mine 3 years ago with the Toyota recall leafs and Bilsteins on 1st notch:
    IMG_20200509_175329.jpg

Here's my truck shortly after with 884s and recall leafs with Deaver 1.5 AALs. 265/75/r16 tires. You'll have a slight rake but if you add a camper shell or carry much of a load at all, the spring will quickly start to sag.

    583.jpg

Current Dobinson's Setup (This was before I got stuck in the sand against a rootwad and put a big ol stripe across the side of the rocker..need sliders):
    IMG_4828.jpg

All that to show you my own progression and save you money in the long run. I enjoyed the stock truck leveled but then I got the camper and it started to sag. Then I added AALs, then it had over 2in rake. Then I added 884s to compensate and control arms. Then eventually the factory leafs with AALs started sagging. Now I'm at current setup and very happy. Do it right the first time, if you can afford it, get a full suspension lift- leaf packs, coils, and adjustable UCA's for the sake of your alignment. Now I run a 3in Dobinson's Suspension lift and I love it, truck has more rake than in this picture and it can carry any load I need it too without looking like it's got a full diaper.

So I did think about doing all of tht and shied away from it because the hardest terrain this truck will see is snow on a dirt road. I’m planning to do the UCA’s at the same time for alignment purpose. I’ll also do the Billy’s in the rear but I’m not looking to majorly change the angle of the drivetrain that’s why I want to stick to a slight lift in the front while gaining a more quality ride. In that first picture are you on stock springs? I assume the first notch is the .85 setting?

Yes thats stock springs, yep I believe its .85 should give you about an inch up front. The billies will give you a much better ride over stock. They did for me.

Why are you going up to 265s if you aren't going to see much terrain? They will knock you down a couple MPG.

I’m not completely set in 265/75s yet. I only put about 5000 miles a year on my vehicles and when I bought the truck I didn’t notice the tires were dry rotted to all high hell (they’re 11 years old) and the rims are pretty badly corroded so I’m doing new rims and tires. I’m not worried about fuel economy. I debating between 265/75/16 and 235/85/16 because I mainly will be driving it in the winter and I hear skinnies do better in snow. I have 4x4 so I’m not too concerned either way. Just mainly want a larger tire for the look of it. Do you know can you adjust the snap rings on billies without taking them off the truck? U havnt looked into that yet.

Larger tires look even better with a lift :D Plus you will be able to crawl under for maintenance and oil changes. I couldn't before my lift but maybe larger tires and billies alone will help you with that. I couldn't fit under mine with just the billies.

Can't adjust the snap rings without removing them. They are under pressure from the compressed coil. I would try the 235s. Less rolling resistance but I've never had an issue in the snow with my 265s. Some other users could probably chime in but I believe the theory is that the skinnier tire puts more pressure per sq inch because theres less surface area. I suppose that could be to your advantage depending on what kind of snow it is.

Yeah I figured I’d have to take them off to adjust but I’d didn’t know for sure. I guess my deciding factor on the tires is going to be more about stopping and I can imagine and 265 is going to stop better on ice than a 235

It's about 2 maybe 2.5 in lift, with 265/75r16 tires. Pretty basic.
