don't get your hopes up lol, best way to get your mileage back is a re gear. Have both and i get 13mpg, gas isn't something i worry about its something you'll always have to buy...

Yeah I agree. I lifted my truck and installed bigger tires because it makes me feel good about my truck. My truck isn’t my daily driver so I’m not worried about 16 MPG I get.

how much does a regear cost? Parts and labor? Have you gone it?

From ECGS w/o front locker + new bearings was a lil shy of $1500 and retaining the OEM locker Rear $2400 with a solid spacer and Koyo Bearings. I didn't have to pay labor..
I'm glad you like the truck i do to, for maximum drivability i recommend the OVT and re-gear it completes the truck and feels the way it should.

Yeah that’s about what the lift and wheels and tires cost. Hmmm something to consider but I will hold off right now. I bet you have more power huh?

lil bit more get up and go, no more pre detonation under load. I have the black widow muffler with a exhaust reroute with mandrel tubing for better flow it. I did everything complete package 100% better than it was when it rolled off the lot.

Changing ONE thing may result in negligible fuel mileage loss. But you did several things and they add up

    The lift increases wind resistance.
Taller tires make the engine work harder to turn them.
    Wider tires increase rolling resistance.
More aggressive tread increases rolling resistance.

Doing any one of those things might not reduce fuel mileage enough to be noticeable. But if each one cost you 1 mpg then that explains things.

The larger and heavier your wheels are, the less efficient it will be. No gearing or tuning is going to fix that. It will always be worse. That being said, gearing and tuning could possibly help improve it slightly but that's a big expense and not worth it for MPG alone

Your 94 4x4 f350 with a 460c.i. gets same mpg as your tacoma? I do not believe that.

    Is your taco stock?

My tundra gets 13-14 mpg. And I’m running 295s (34.5”) tires. I can’t believe the tacos are getting similar mileage when lifted. I used to own a 05 Tacoma with the 4.0 and I ran 285s on it and I used to remember getting 16-18mpg out of that truck. I miss that old 05.

If your driving operation requires it, then it's a no brainier. Better lose the mileage than truck damage. If It's just for looks and joy factor, it gets more complicated. You then need to factor in an uncomfortable ride, noise, additional maintenance and repairs too.

    Hope that helps

I did OVtune and MPG went up from 13-14 to 16+. I've got 33s and stock gears, aftermarket skids and sliders.
