lifted truck with stock tires?

    I am going to be putting the 5100's and a AAL on my truck soon. My question is, would it look just plain stupid to just go with another more aggressive 245/75/16? Only reason I am asking is because I have recently gotten into wheelin my truck. I was wondering if it might be a good idea to keep the stock size tires so that I end up with more than enough room to stuff them in the wheel well while climbing obstacles and not end up with any rubbing issues.

    You could easily bump up to the 265/70R16 that comes on TRD Off-Roads with no rubbing issues. Most people don't even have rubbing issues with the 265/75R16's.

    it would look pretty goofy i'd say. like maticuno said, you'd have no issues with a 265/70 or 265/75 tire

    edit: here's mine with a 3" lift and 245s i think

    I'd step up to a bigger tire size. 265/75/16 is a good size for a DD that sees some offroad use. I have 265/75 Duratracs and I'm not rubbing anywhere. 245's, in my honest opinion, would look too tiny with a 2.5''-3'' lift.

    I just "lifted" mine 1/2 inch up front with a taco lean tp spacer on each side when swapping out the tokicos for the TRD bilsteins that never went on the 05 because it got the 5100s. This one came with Falken Rocky Mountain 245/70/16s and they look skinny compared to the 275/65/18s that were on the 05 for sure but this time I'm stayin with the oem 16s and bumping up to 265/70/16s and calling it good. The 265s will look better but these Falkens have 50k treadwear rating and I'll be using them up first. If you are lifting more than .85 with the 5100s then yes it's gonna need some fatter cleats. I'm just stayin a bit more practical with tire costs & gas costs on this one but it is very hard to not go more, lol. Here's my skinny little good for mpg 245s....

    I was just wondering because according to Treadwright's site. The 245's are 30.7'' and the 265's are 31'' so I would actually only be gaining a 1/2'' more clearance at the rear diff. The price diff. between the two sizes is almost $30.00 so I was wondering if it was actually worth the extra $30.00 a tire for only a 1/2'' more clearance.

    If the 245's are 30.7" and 265's are 31", you're only gaining .15" at the rear differential. They're wider though and tend to fill the wheel well better, especially on a lifted truck.
