Lifting 2009 DC TRD Sport with Bilstein 5100's

    How's everyone doing? Got a few questions about the good ol' Bilstein 5100 lift. I want to lift my 2009 DC about 2-2.5" basically for the simple fact of fitting a little larger rubber on and to fit some -12 offset wheels I want for the spring. I don't wheel in any extreme conditions, the truck sees mud or snow maybe a few times a month, and thats usually just driving to work (couple hours one way, sometimes pretty rough in the spring)

    From what I have gathered, theres a couple things to also fab when your wanting a lift higher that 2"? One I've read is extending the back brake lines which doesn't seem like a big deal. The second bit of advice is using either an AAL or leaf pack for the back end. For me logically thinking it makes sense, but I would like some feedback to hear if its absolutely necessary.

    I've priced the whole lift through wheeler's off road:

    Not exactly the cheap plain jane bilstein 5100 lift most folk have. The Deaver 10 leaf pack seemed like a good pick, just wondering for the back, with the billy 5100 and the deaver 10's is that overkill? Or would it be worth it? The truck only has about 28000KM on it, so the rear springs are still pretty new.... I haul 400-500 lbs in the winter with work gear and sand bags for traction. if that makes a difference. I'm also concerned about road salt, being located in Calgary, AB Canada, is there any concerns with the billie 5100's and rust from road salt?

    I think your set up sounds like a great plan. It might be a bit more than you need if you only go out minor wheeling....but I'd rather have more than not have enuf...

    Yeah well said, I'm typically the same thinker. As long as its completely unnecessary and overkill I definitely don't mind spending a few extra bux to have a solid ride.

    Yeah...I wouldn't recommend you getting a long travel kit or adding full skids or anything...but a replacement leaf pack is probably a good idea and deaver is a good choice.
    I think you'll be pleased.
