    If it is a true functional lift and not just for looks, the extra ground clearance is so the suspention can soak up the bumps. Last time I checked a 2wd can hit a bump just as fast as a 4wd. I hate it when people ask this question. Yes, you need 4wd for mudding and rock crawling. Duh! But I would say 80% of all baja Trophy trucks are 2wd. And it's just me but, I am pretty sure they will beat the living crap out of any 4wd in a hart beat. It all depends on aplication. And the skill of the driver.

    OME 885 AAL, 2.5* shim, Light Racing UCA's. BFG AT KO 285/75/16, Spidertrax spacers, OME Shocks up front, Bilstein 5100 Shocks in back.
    Those are nice, and with adjustable coilovers you can get up to 7" of lift (if you max out your coilover) The only thing I wasn't crazy about was it pushing out the front wheels 3/4" on each side, I guess you could run a spacer on the back wheels to even it up. I wanted this set up so bad. But then I'd want to run 35's, then I'd want to regear, then I'd probably have to find another place to live.

    I voted NO. A good percentage of what we do to our trucks have no real purpose. Why buy the fancy wheels, they are only for looks. Why didn't you just buy some cheap steelies?

    Lifting has nothing to do with 4x4 or 4x2. The point of a lift is to improve ground clearance and run bigger tires. Both 4x4s and 4x2s benefit from this.

    I'd be willing to bet my 2wd spends more time off road than most 4x4s do.

    Ya, in AZ you see a lot more people towing with there 4x4 than anything. Or people who want there show truck to look better because they have 4wd, but you know they have never taken it through anything. But I have seen a lot of Tacomas with 4wd that use it.
