lifting an 03 with torsion bars

alright guys. I really need to know how to lift my truck. I have an 03 standard cab 2.4L. I don't want to level it. I want a lift kit. but since I don't have coil springs, how do I lift it and where would I find this type of lift kit.

What's a torsion bar? I only know it as the thing also called a strut tower brace...

 

I didnt think 5 lugs had torsion bars

 

im sorry but if you have even looked at the front suspension of your truck you would know its not a torsion bar

toyota trucks have not had torsion bars since pre 95

your suspension is differnet than the 6 lug suspension and lift kits will be few and far between

on the 4wd trucks we have a one piece coilover strut. you have a shock inside of a coil that sits in a coil bucket and on the lower control arm. to lift it you need taller coils in the front and a leaf pack with a shit ton more arch for the back since you are spring under.

 

its what a lot of older trucks use instead of a coil over in IFS. the shock absorber is where our coil over is and the torsion bar goes from the lca to a cross member and the torsional (twisting) resistance of the bar stuck in the cross member is what hold the weight.

on older trucks you could lift or lower the front by cranking them one way or anther...but these trucks do not have them

Best place for 5 lug lifts I believe is fat bobs. Am I correct?

Also I might be wrong but aren't 5luggers spring under in the rear? You could do a spring over and gain lift.
I'm sure there is more than one thread on lifting the five lugger.

 

I'm pretty sure it's all torsion bars guys. I've looked and done plenty of research. I just haven't really found a lift kit for it.

 

Take a picture of your truck's suspension and point out to us what you think is the torsion bar.

T-bars, as stated above, are on Toyota Pickups (95 and earlier) and not on 2003 Toyota Tacomas.

 

unless you have a trailmaster lift with their weird mcpherson strut thing

how much do you want to spend?

in the end though its not a very fruitful effort. you will spend the money, go through all the work, maybe get some 30-31" tires...and be at the same height as a stock 6 lug (4wd) tacoma

the 5 lugs were just not meant to be lifted of wheeled
