    ***EDIT***

I changed the name of the thread to not pigeonhole my truck with the Icon Stage 1 and to filter out any negative comments regarding possible swapping out the TRD PRO Suspension. My main goal is to slightly lift the truck, get rid of the rake and either gain or remain as good as my current ride. I don’t want any rubbing or issues with cutting wheels at full turn. I have accomplished this in the past with my 05 Tacoma with adding suspension lift and AAL and was very happy. I am wondering what others have done to accomplish this on their TRD PRO. I’m not completely sold on the plates or blocks so I am leaning towards a suspension lift with AAL.

I'd like to hear and see what others have done so if you have lifted or leveled a TRD PRO I'd appreciate feedback, learning points and pictures if you have them.

    Thanks in advance!

    ***EDIT***

Heres a pic of my truck now as it sits.

Icon doesn’t come close to the quality of those PRO shocks. A lot of that $$$ you spent on the PRO goes towards that sweet TRD PRO suspension.

    WTF?

Your truck looks great as is.

I agree. I would not switch it out for icon stage 1. If you go mental with icon delta UCAs and king adj. resi, etc... sure. Use that stage 1 money to buy some sliders, then go slide on them.

    Your truck is sick, btw.

My ultimate goal it to level it , get rid of rake and be able to put more weight in the back when needed also possible camper shell. Also bigger tires. I don't want sacrafice ride quality so I was thinking a stage one kit might be able to accomplish this on a pro?

Couldn't have said it better. I would have kept it FOX. But to each their own I guess.

If you do replace it, at least don’t get Icon. A lot better suspension out there for the price, not to mention better CS

    OP,

Just curious, are you mechanically capable/inclined?

Reason I ask is because if you do lift/replace that PRO suspension, your truck WILL require more of your time and maintenance over the life of the truck. That PRO suspension is perfectly tuned and designed for that truck to give you the least amount of problems.

Just curious if you’ve thought about that aspect?

Lift will NOT allow bigger tires, I wish people would stop stating that about Tacoma suspension. It is level at the moment, so no lift required for that. If you do want less sag in the rear when loaded, then you need stiffer rear springs, but they will also hurt performance/ handeling unloaded. AAL is an cheap sub-optimal fix for that, new leaf pack is the better option. If you do replace shocks, then Fox 2.5 or King are the only better option. But neither will perform any better, just allow you to dial in preload, rebound & compression dampening to your preference / load. That will require some work on your behalf.
The only other option for less sag in the rear while loaded is those shock absorber bumpstops, they may be your best option. If you want bigger tires than the current clearance allows, and you actually use your full suspension travel, then trimming / cab mount chop is your only option.

    OP Here's my 2 cents.
    1. Take some time and do some research. There's lots of good threads with people installing all different kinds.
    2. You need to start with deciding what you want to accomplish with your truck. Then go from there.
    3. That PRO suspension is a good suspension and is made for that truck. Don't be so quick to chuck it. If you do decide to part with it, you'll have no problem selling it. It'll definitely help offset the cost of the replacement.
    4. To get an equivalent suspension including the height adjustability you desire, you're going to have to fork over quite a bit of coin. To give you an idea, all said and done I spent close to $3.5k for my Icon 2.5"s with remote reservoirs and CDCV adjusters plus UCAs. That did include a nice discount, but did not include the add-a-leafs. In my opinion, they're step up from what you have, but only moderately so. If I had a PRO, I probably wouldn't bother.
    5. Personally, I wouldn't do the Bilsteins. They're an excellent setup, but a little bit of a step down from what you have now.
    6. When you get into the Kings, Icons, and Foxes, you're also paying for the brand so keep that in mind. Things are just more expensive.

Hope that helps and good luck.

    (Nice looking truck too)
