An ECU that is not vehicle specific but you have to modify it, custom wire it up, and write a custom tune to make it work. Not practical by any means for a DD just to improve fuel economy. Which you won't do with a standalone anyways.

Well shoot. Ok. Thanks. It's not a big deal. I only drive around town mostly. I love about a mile from work.

Sorry guys I have been away a little bit. No I have not regeared it. I am completely happy with the performance that I have with these tires. I don't need better performance so only if it would help with gas mileage what I consider re-gearing. But I understand it's pretty expensive so I'm not sure about the payoff

its more affordable only having 1 diff soo its possible under a grand. that will make ride more enjoyable and get alot of your mpgs back. Id go 4.88s since this is a street truck.

Thanks Devon for that. I was getting about 20 miles per gallon and now I'm getting between 12 and 13. Do you think I could get four or 5 miles to the gallon more by recuring or would it just be like maybe 1 to 3 miles a gallon? I don't know if you know the answer to that but maybe someone will. I thousand dollars is a lot of money to make up

Yeah you'll definitely make your money back with gas mileage in the long run, the longer you wait the more it's gona cost

I really know nothing about re-gearing. Do you know what gears I should go with? I doubt there is anyone out there who has done this on a 2 wheel drive . before.

yup. 5.29s are often recommended for 35s on an offroad rig but 4.88s will suit a 2wd better. Its $675 for gears, rebuild kit, and installation through ECGS.

Thanks for this information guys. I don't mean to doubt anyone's word here but I have spoken with some mechanics who say that re-gearing will not get you much improvement in gas mileage. Is there anyone who has actually done it and can verify that it would improve the gas mileage?
