I mainly lurk in the shadows and do a lot of creeping, therefore not needing to post much. Most every time I get curious about a topic I find there’s typically a very similar post that’s already been discussed.

Anyways, I’m about 1-2 weeks from pulling the trigger on a 3rd gen. This lift topic is a big one for me, it’ll be one of the very first things I do to the truck. One thing I can’t believe anyone has hit on is the needle bearing replacement. Through my research it seems that this is just as important piece of the puzzle as the UCAs. One of the not so cool aspects of modifying something, having to upgrade other parts that are effected by said modification. Just throwing that tidbit out there to squeeze into your budget. I believe the upgrade is through East Coast Gear Service. I think, dont quote me on that.

Eibach or Bilstein’s great budget lifts in the ball park with wheels and tires. Will be pretty close.

    Good LUCK OP

    Check build thread!
For your use, I'd either not lift, or go for a nice 2-2.5 inch lift. I've done cheap lifts on beaters. Makes the car ride like shit.

3 inch with 33s is my vote! Looks killer in my opinion anyway. Just do it :D

Is a cab mount chop pretty standard when adding any new UCAs?

No 285’s require cmc. UCA’s will help with alignment and to move tire forward (caster)

I was reading through the install pdf on total chaos's website and they mention it being part of the install... sort of threw me off. Now I see it bmc reference with larger tires. Thanks

Very interesting to read what is recommended for this height of a lift. From reading around and talking to shops an UCA is not needed for a 3in lift, but would be nice. Furthermore, they state the CV angle is "okay" at that height but don't want to go any higher without addressing it. I am sure the UCA is great for alignment and articulation but if youre going purely for looks and not off roading im sure you could do without. Correct me if im wrong

I gotcha. At that point I think it comes down to cost for people and are they ready to pay to play. Adding another 600 on top of everything might not be what someone is willing to do. Hence they get the coilovers and jack it as high as it can go and see what happens

Also I’m only at 2” of lift and needed them.

What made you need them at 2in of lift? And please be specific as far as the specs you were trying to achieve

I had a little positive camber (which really pissed me off) plus tire wear and caster was off and highway driving truck would wonder a bit. That’s what a crazy about these trucks they are all different.

They're needed for extended travel coilovers. The stock ball joint doesn't have enough movement during full droop. If not, then stock would work but new coilovers and aftermarket UCA's go well together

    Interesting. Yeah, positive camber would
Look terrible and I would not like that at all. Wandering on the highway would be a big no as well.

Just picked up a '21 TRD OR and dealer told me that up to a 3" lift with 33's is fine and does not void the warranty.

Congratulations man! On a side topic, I’m moving from a 2016 TRD OR DCSB to a 2021 TRD OR DCLB. The burning question I have is.... how’s that 2021 transmission? Known issue w the 2o16s, looking for some reassurance since I’m about 8 weeks out from finally having the new truck.
