Well I personally think it’s a better idea to get them. As for need???
    I can’t say it’s a “need”.
But I do know that your suspension is dynamic and making the assumption that it’s fine without the diff drop while the truck is not in motion isn’t taking all the variables into consideration.
I would agree that the amount of angle decrease you get from a diff drop is minimal, I feel any bit that helps you NOT have to change my boot prematurely is a plus.
But again you’re correct it is Not a NEED.
    I would highly recommend it.
But time will tell? I was changing my CV Boots ever 8-10 months so I know from first hand experience that it Sucks!
All CV Boot will eventually wear out and need replacement. If there is anything you can do to prolong their life? Why not???
Just remember that the people recommending Not to get it. Are not going to be around when they Blow and you need to replace them! Ask "King" if they will warranty you CV Boots??
    But it's up to you?

    Good luck!

Know a good way to not wear them out? Don’t lift.

You don’t need, and shouldn’t do, a diff drop for a 3” lift.

OP has had every logical option listed in these 14 pages and still hasn’t decided, which is borderline comical. At this point, I’d suggest he go to a local truck meet and great to visually see different lifts vice asking opinions here.. and then driving straight to an installer before he changes his mind :)

There's a lot to putting big tires on a truck, can't just bolt on and go. Put a drop bracket lift and 37's.

Changing stock parts will naturally stress other oem parts. There’s no way around that. We were trying to tell you that from the beginning that if your not good with preventive maintenance and not willing to have to trim and change parts early due to wear and tear that lifting isn’t worth it. Go spacers and blocks it’s so much easier and way less maintenance. You will fit your 33’s you’ll be happy. Put a good set of AT tires on and your truck is plenty ready stock for what every thing Oahu has to throw at it(minus peacock flats and donkey trail).

Just trade your truck in for a corolla.
Buy an offroad video game and have fun!
That way when issues arise you can just hit reset and start all over! Nothing will ever be perfect. So if you don't enjoy tinkering and modding your ride then just leave it well enough alone.

with blocks yes, your ride will suck.

the Kings setup you posted will be fine for your stated intentions, which may need occasional check-ups and service over time. a cab mount chop may be needed due to the width of 12.5 wide tires and your alignment as you turn the wheels in relation to your suspension compression.

diff drop will affect your ground clearance and skid plate installation for protection of the underside...I never used on since adding the 4wd 5-6 years ago, and never had a cv boot fail from the lift, though I have replaced a few cv axles over for opportunistic maintenance while doing other work (replace LCA bushings, shock upgrade, etc)

the oem stock cv axles with no lift will probably last at least 6-8 years depending on the boot rubber quality and driving environment...never assume any part on these trucks or other cars will last.

at least when parts do break or need to upgrade, better aftermarket solutions are available, and more than enough capable members across this forum that have probably dealt with that issue.

I can't imagine those tires just for street.
It's too frickin heavy. It'll be like pulling a trailer.
