I am currently shopping for a new Tacoma, but at square one... I am in anticipation of installing a lift kit for it. Mostly looking for a more aggresive look, also looking to have more clearance for larger tires. For the most part I will be using the truck for practical use, but do want to enhance 4x4 preformance for when need be. I dont wanna compromise the factory ride too much either... any recomendations?
In addition, im unsure of which model to buy... Do I go TRD? If so, which teir? I understand there are 3 stages of the TRD upgrade. Ive also been told with the anticipation of lifting the suspension, some upgrades may be redundant. Basically i dont wanna spend an extra 5 grand on factory upgrades that may or may not be changed out.

welcome, this thread should help a little. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/11282-tacoma-lift-faq-guide-read.html

the TRD or not is more of how you use the truck, for heavy offroading i would get a 4x4 sr5 and mod from there.
for light-medium off roading i would go with a TRD off road, the locker helps immensely in low traction situations.
for a street queen with light off roading i would go TRD sport
the TRD package helps with resale if you plan to sell the truck.

Haters gonna hate on us sport fellas, but when it comes down to it, we can fit REAL lockers in our diffs :p

If you want it for looks, get the sport. If you're going to mod it, get an sr5 and have them throw the skewpd hood on at the factory and don't look back. If I could do it over this is what I would do. Most if not all of the sport upgrades will be removed when mine is "done"
