Question is for those who have lifted their newer Tacomas with TSS (safety sense) and did not change out the grille with modified sensor. Curious to hear how it affects the TSS. Does it still work to some degree?

Worked perfectly fine for me after lift, and continues to work after lift and pro grille.

Technically, if you added a pro grill, you actually lowered the position of the TSS sensor and placed it closer to the stock position.

OP asked for those who did not swap out the stock grill.

I added a 1.5” leveling kit and have stock grill. No problems at all.

That's true but my point was that after my lift with the stock grille it worked fine. And by saying it continues to work fine after the pro grille I mean they aren't as finicky in my experience as some people think.

We have been lifting trucks for a little while and installing pro grilles for even longer than that. We have not been able to notice a difference in behavior in either our own truck or from reports from customers. The truth is that in most situations the radar has a wide enough viewing angle so that it will still see any vehicles in front of you even if the angle changes a bit. Imagine that the sensor was calibrated for only a very specific range... what would happen if you were to load your taco's bed with gear and effectively change the angle of the sensor? Toyota has to account for that, it is built into the software to compensate for slight variations in attitude.

EDIT: Disclaimer... a friend of a friend told me that... :anonymous:
