Yup, after reading this post yesterday, I went to the dealership I bought my truck at. I asked if they were willing to install a lift on my truck that wouldn't void the warranty and the guy just looked at me like I was insane. Is there someone in perticular I should be talking to at the dealership? I spoke with a guy that worked in the 'service' department.
    Thanks for the insight bro.

Talk to a different guy at the service department or to a mechanic directly, more often they are the ones who know what they are talking about.

4 wheel parts offers a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty on all of their lifts. you can also contact dealer services international, DSI, to inquire about buying a lift through them. I bought mine through them and they have been more than rsponsive to any issues. i have the local Texas/Louisianna/Oklahoma rep if you are interested.

I might get back to you in a little while on that. I think I'll keep pouring money into my older truck for the time being...
    Thanks a lot though.

My local dealer sells and installs Revteck lifts. As long as you have a 3" or less lift, that is similar to the Revteck, they will honor the factory warranty.

Apart from the added clearance, what are the benefits of a lift?

Added clearance is about it... but it let's you do a lot of stuff. higher the truck, the more places you can get to offroad; the higher the truck the bigger tires you can fit underneath, which let you go to even more places off road.

In my town it seems the only purpose of a lift is to make it easier to find your truck in the mall parking lot.

I'd like a 3" lift but then I'll have a problem fitting into under ground garages which are usually between 72" to 76". Same reason I couldn’t get a roof rack. As is, my radio antenna whacks everything in its path. Anybody have any ideas on lowering the antenna?

Get a shorter one from a stereo shop. I hit it in garages too, so I'll be getting a shorter one soon

My truck has 6" lift and I have no problems going into garages here in Houston. It is not any taller than my wifes stock Excursion. I am also a commoercial contractor and cannot imagine ANY parking garage being built here with less than 80" clearance, but maybe our codes are different. One of the reasons I got out of my F350 4x4 (with 5" of lift) was to be able to go into parking garages in the Texas Medical Center where I do a lot of work. ALthough the lift on this truck is taller, the distance from bottom of cab to top is substantially less and makes the overall height over 7" less.

Will reception be compromised? I can't afford that since my Taco is out in the country most of the time.

80" is awesome. Most buildings here are 76" and the older ones (15+ years) are about 72" if you are lucky. The high truck’s are relatively a new thing, I'd say. It sucks to be me since I'm constantly entering these garages and have to worry about hitting something.

Most shorty billet antennas work as well and sometimes better than factory antennas. Plus they look a lot better. I should buy one cause mine beats the crap out of my garage door opening.

Thanks bud. If you come across a good make/model, please let me know. Also, did you put a lift on your truck or do something with your wheels or wheel base? It looks mean.

Most people that I've talked to seem to like all the ones sold by Stylin concepts. As for my truck I have a 2.5" toytec lift. I leave my factory antenna on as a sort of "feeler" gauge for height when going in garages and what not.

HaHa! I never thought of that, but that's a damned good idea. The antenna's about the only thing on the truck I don't mind hitting on stuff... better that than hitting the top...
    Good call bro
