Realistically you can buy whatever light bar you want and fabricate the mounting locations essentially wherever works in the area you plan to install. Get weird. Use a zip tie or two. Install a siren and pull someone over :anonymous:

Where do you want to mount it? Grill? Roof? Bumper?

I am wanting to mount a light bar to the roof, above the windshield I suppose. Not wanting to drill holes if possible.

Probably won't be able to go on the roof without drilling. You could probably try similar to what I did and mount in the bumper but the 98 will be a little bit different as far as where it aligns.IMG_3906.jpg

A light bar on the roof is legal where the truck lives??

You can get away with amber but not white light in many states .

Some areas are strict some let it slide .

Drilling holes is inevitable unless you're gonna spooge some construction adhesive on there and pray

Lots of options when I googled "1st gen Tacoma light bar mount roof"

Here's one of the first results

this looks way cleaner, and you don't lose 1mpg for having it on the roof or have to listen to it whistle on the highway. lol

You could be basic like me and put them on a bull bar. They're bright as hell. I use them with caution on dark back roads with no one in front of me. They help illuminate the sides of the road quite a bit even though they're pointed straight. Also not a bar, I realize, but still very effective.

Exactly my reasons for choosing it. No drilling, no mpg loss, and no whistle. Still super bright and has a good angle in front of the truck.

Your Truck does not get driven enough to get busted.

Driving down the road in the wee hours with the roof lights on going to work when you blind the state trooper coming towards you.:anonymous: speaking from experience .
