I'm looking at buying either a bull bar or a light bar and wanted to get some opinions and suggestions on which I should get

I have the Aries bull bar. I'd look at getting the Avid bar though.

Personally, I'd go with a light bar but it depends on what you want to add for lights. If you want fog lights, they'll be more effective if they are lower to the ground like on a bull bar. If you want driving lights, they'll be better if they're mounted higher, like on a light bar.

I have the Avid and think it's fantastic. Many times better quality than any bull bar I've seen.

What's it really for though. I mean yeah they look good, but I don't plan on ramming anything with my truck anytime soon

Good cause they won't actually provide all that much protection. I'm sure my bull bar will own my bumper if I hit anything at any significant speed.

I would mainly be getting it for looks and to mount some fogs on it, I'm not planning on plowing into anything lol, so durability and strength isn't a big issue but it's not a bad thing to have either...

Go Avid all the way! I had the aries bull bar and I hated it after just a few weeks of having it. I still love my Avid lightbar! I had it Line-X'd and it's great. Plus TW members get a 20% discount I believe.
