    Hey hey,

I'm looking to wire a light bar (standard harness with a relay that outputs a white, black, and blue wire into the cab/low voltage side) so that it'll run ONLY with ignition on. I'm fairly savvy with electrical but can't figure this one out for the life of me.

The bar has a typical three wire harness coming into the cab and currently I have a fuse tap running the switch's LED to ignition on, but I need a way to do the same with the power--the blue wire coming in from the harness.

This is such a common harness it's hard to believe I can't find a million youtube videos on it, but alas...

    thanks!

Look carefully at the relay, you'll see that the fused power goes to relay and the switch wires. You need to tap into an fused ignition source for the wire to the switch, not the always hot fused battery source.

Not sure I understand you. The relay has a direct ground, a hot wire that goes to battery (in my case it's running to blue sea aux power block), and then a set of three wires that run to the dash switch. I assume one is ground, one is constant power, and I'm not sure what the third is. My ditch lights only have two wires running into the cab and the switch is powered off an add-a-fuse, so they work as I need. But there's a low-voltage wire in the mix here that I can't account for.

ASSume nothing. Are the wires to the relay covered? Verify where they split to. Same for the 3 wires coming from the relay.

Nope, the wires to power and ground are obvs. The wires into the cab are sheathed but easy to get at. There's a power in, a power out and a ground

Verify that you have this: Battery (+)-fuse-relay-small wire (color?) to switch harness-switch-return to relay (color?) and switch ground.

The wire from relay to battery is not small. It's a higher voltage wire and it's the one actually powering the lights. To the cab I have a black, white, and blue. Currently it's wired exactly as this video shows: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...=W4MXEJpedrM&usg=AOvVaw3ibUxQdUcLEmm5VmJdRNOK

    sorry that link is awful

I guess you are a selective reader..."small wire (color unknown to me) to switch harness..."
