And if the guy riding around with his high beams on causes an accident he will be held liable too...
Nothing wrong with a flash to remind people to turn that shit off.

Unless you flash the wrong person who rages easily... or a cop. Flashing is considered illegal in most states unless you intend to pass on a single lane.

Getting back to the OP's question, LED Light Bars have their place in the world. Off road is a great place to use them. The better bars give you many options as to light pattern and size, and that's good. They also have a significant advantage over older off road lighting solutions in that they're relatively easy to install and quite durable.

The problem with LED bars in general is idiots who buy cheap e-Bay or Amazon bars that aren't actually any good and then run around with them on full time for reasons I do not fully understand and probably never will. I will admit to having a CaliRaised 32" LED bar behind my grill in addition to the numerous other lighting mods I've done to my truck. But I only use mine in very specific situations and not when anybody else is around to get blinded.

Hopefully not, if you want to shell out thousands of dollars there are "aurora resorts" in northern Finland. They aren't entirely unheard of as quiet as they are and the farther north you go they seem to be better. Wherever you go though _softservenews(dot)com_ is the website I use to see activity, KP numbers, and localized data. It's always been accurate in the past 5 years I've used it.

Live in LA and use mine all the time when I'm in the desert/mountains. Saved my ass on the ALCAN from being obliterated by a moose that I would have t-boned had the light bar not caught it.

It'll depend on your individual needs....

Some add them to their mall crawlers purely for aesthetics, which is cool...no different than a hundred other cool things you can do to dress up your baby. But if you are doing mostly city and busy motorway driving, chances are you will never use it.

There is a lot of practical reasons for having them, though...off-roading, obviously. If you are alone on a back trail, or the first in a pack, you want as much as you can in front of you. Depending on where you are in North America, the wilderness is full of bears and bisons and gators and moose and elk and deer and all sorts of critters that will do you and your Taco harm if you hit'em at speed....more light means more visibility, which means it is safer.

As far as legality...that is going to vary, sometimes dramatically, by jurisdiction (usually Province or State, but sometimes even at the County or Municipality level). In some places they'd be banned in any form, others are permitted off-road but not on State/Provincial motorways, some places require them to be covered when not in use...make sure you know what the rules are for your area. Go find a traffic policeman and ask...it's their speciality and area of expertise; don't ask a regular General Duty/Patrol officer, their knowledge base is elsewhere...

Lightbars are like full-size trucks. They’re great when you need them, but far too many idiots have them that don’t need them.

When ya do, go north...pretty much anywhere in northern BC or Alberta is gonna be good; I used to watch 'em out my bedroom window every winter night.

Apparently Yellowknife, NWT is THE best place on the planet....

    The rules vary sooooo much....

We are lucky here in British Columbia...you are unlikely to get ticketed for possessing a lightbar on your vehicle...the primary penalty is for misuse of that lightbar. Ergo, be responsible....

They're for harassing animals at night. As in Crocadile Dundee.

Mount a remote servo mirror, then it's their own light blinding them. If they're so close their hot spots actually light up your vehicle, with either high or low beams, they're way too close.

Won't have a truck without a quality and bright set of auxiliary lights. Far too much time behind the wheel after sundown and before sunup driving to and from camp to set up camp, hunting spots, etc. About half of my off roading time is at night, sometimes in damn rough terrain or fast terrain with plenty of "gotcha" obstacles, and often at a pretty good clip, in deer, elk, and open range (cattle) country. Daylight is for glassing. Night time is for driving to jump off points for the hike into glassing spots or getting back to camp after sundown. I'm usually not wasting any time getting from point A to point B during those trips (IOW haulin' ass). Bright lights with good throw to the front and sides are a must have for me.

On a 60 mile one way trip down crappy dirt roads driving into camp at midnight, that light bar is worth every penny.

Beyond that, I think they're next to useless, with the exception being the rare times you find yourself on a long stretch of highway after dark with no other traffic.

3 inch lift , 32's , updated grille , seat mod , camera mod ,cap w/ led inside lighting, stainless step bars, 32" light bar recessed ,ultra guage mx 1.3 ,mesa cutoms dome and maps , tw custom cupholder, OG husky liners. Need seat covers and bed rug and she is done !
I have a Amazon special 32 inch light bar behind my lower grille . Why ? Because I wanted it , and no other reason necessary. I ride ATVs in remote areas , and if I need it ..its there . If for some reason i lose my headlights in a back road or in the woods its there . As was said above , why did you buy an off road edition truck ? Because you wanted to. If I off-roaded this truck ...it would have a good one on it without any doubt.
