Are there any light bars out there similar to Avid? Looking for something for my 2011 Taco. If not I was going to go with the Avid light bar and step bars.

Anyone have a ballpark estimate on how much powdercoating costs nowadays? I had a bike frame done before, but that was in like 1997.

I got a quote of a minimum of $185 for an Avid Light Bar. I decided to use rattle cans when it it gets delivered to me.

I'm having Avid add another bar to protect the bottom of the bumper, but not interfere with the tow points.

    I did exactly the same.

OP - there are some cool light bars out there that cost <half of an Avid if all you care about is mounting lights. Heck, you could almost do a satoshi grille or something plus a behind-the-grille bracket for the cost of the Avid.

But if you want something solid that isn't going to rattle on you, will offer some level of protection and that you can stand on if needed, an Avid is the way to go. No regrets with mine.

You're not going to hit a deer on the highway and get away free, not even with a plate bumper. Damage would probably be less with one. An Avid light abr is going to do nothing in that regard, except take out the deer's legs before its body eats your grille. The Avid's #1 purpose besides light mounting in my mind is to act as a buffer when you're parallel parked. Jackass backs into you at 0.5 mph, there's a good chance that your avid is going to take the brunt of the crunch. Hopefully all you'll need is a can of paint at that point.

Cost was 3-hundo-something delivered. Not super cheap but worth it IMHO.

This ^ I used plasti-dip on mine. Works great especially after dick heads at work back into my truck, or the occasional off roading bump.

i've hit two deer with my avid bar, one going 35 at impact, and the second around 20 on impact. did not even touch the truck, the bar took all the damage and only bent in maybe half an inch on the left side. can not tell its bent unless you look at it closely.
given they were both doe's, but still solid and worth the money in my book.

I killed an 80 pound doe at about 20 mph at impact and I don't think the Avid light bar even had a dent. Only a little hair on it which washed right off. :)
