Light Racing UCA questions

So im reading a lot on hear about how Light racing UCAs can help, after lifting, to fix alignment issues and what not but what im not finding out is if i can fit wider tires.

I have the 3" toytek ultimate lift kit on my truck right now with 265/70/17 tires and id like to upgrade to 285/70/17s roughly an inch wider than the old tires. I have vision warlord 17x8 rims with a +12 offset which from what im understanding is the stock offset.

and there's only a few days left to order. ive called and asked them and im waiting to hear back.

So when i upgrade to goodyear MTRs at 285/70/17 i want to avoid rubbing at all cost and im wondering will the Light racing UCAs do this for me?

 

Have you done any trimming so far to either the cab mount or the front fender liner?

 

I've always been told with stock offset wheels with wider and larger tires most people need wheel spacers to clear the UCA's.

 

Previous owner did some trimming and took off the mud flaps no cab mount chop though.

 

but wouldnt aftermarket UCAs change that? specifically light racing ucas

 

The LR UCAs will help you with your alignment. They can adjust camber, caster and toe, but they can't move your tires outward from the center of the vehicle. Only spacers can do that.

All that being said, they are a good product and are handy on lifted rigs for alignment.

 

i thought they would be built differently to allow for more space between the UCA and the tire wall. not necessarily push the tire out but... slim things down a bit?

 

as far as im concerned, my wheel alignment is fine. i dont know if that has to do with the diff drop spacer or with the sway bar relocate that came with the lift but if UCAs are all about alignment then i wont be spending money on them

 

UCA's are all about alignment, strength and some will offer better clearance because of how they're built. If you're sole purpose for buying them is clearance between the UCA and the tire, you should wait until someone chimes in with your exact setup to make sure it clears. Usually that extra clearance is just an added benefit, not the sole purpose for getting new UCAs. You are right, they do help a bit with clearance, just not sure it'd be enough to clear 285s on wheels with stock backspacing.

 

I'm running 285/75/16's on stock OR rims with LR UCA's and I have about a 1/4-3/8" between the tire and the UCA. I rub bad at full droop. I also run at full lock to the right on the left UCA. I have spacers just haven't gotten around to cab mount chop yet. Been running them a little over a year like that. I'm just careful off road with the line I take and stay out of the difficult stuff till I get the spacers on. My alignment was dead on with the UCA's though.

Thanks for the input, that clears things up for me. I suppose ill be running spacers or looking for different wheels when i get new rubber. Wish i had thought of this when i bought these wheels :S
