I was just wondering what the first gen community thought about the light racing uca's? I have had them on my truck for about 20k miles and haven't had a problem with them. I think they are a decent uca for what they are.
If you check the 2nd gen threads you find many with broken welds, bad ball joints, and of course bad bushings.
I was wondering if any first gen guys had problems like that or would like to share their opinions of them.

I have about 30-40k on mine (not sure, PO installed). The bushings are needing to be replaced (Non Spec-Ride). Not a lick of play in the UBJ. And I've had some abusive miles put on them. Nothing broken. As of today. ;)

I feel Timbren bump-stops have helped me decrease a lot of wear in my front suspension by adsorbing the brunt of most impacts. :notsure:

But if 2nd gens are snapping their lr's when they should of gotten uni balls in the first place, then I understand.

    Look at build!
Just had a set break on a '10 FJ at the weld where most do, probably had around 20k on them as well if I had to guess. SPC sent a complete new set and we did the replacement last night and im keeping the old ones to grind the weld and re weld them then gusset the joint and install new bushings. Also his balljoints on them weren't worn completely but definitely weren't stout anymore. Only time will tell on the new ones he got. Hope everyone elses last and work as they should!

Had mine since 2011. No issues with ball joints, welds, or bushings. Great for getting the alignment you want/need.

    I agree!!!
I don't offroad and I am running the LR UCA's. I definitely don't want that to happen but what options does one have when dealing with road salt during the winter?

Those are breaking because the weld is defective, not because of road salt.

Yes I know that. I'm thinking of going with something else and the only thing out there are uniball uca's. I was just wondering best option in areas where they receive snow and salt the roads.

I would also like to know that. At least we both know to avoid that brand of UCA!

I ground the broken one out that I have off the fj and cleaned it up and laid some new metal to it. Ordered some new bushings and we shall see. I fell much more comfortable with the now. Ill also be gusseting them.

Have u put them on yet? I was wondering if these bring back into alignment specs. How will these hold up to the eastern winters?

Damn.... They are US designed and owned by chinese made. Maybe their current supplier is scaling back on costs... Older arms seem to be holding up pretty well (knocking on wood here)... :notsure:

I contacted spc light racing about this particular problem. They told me that the arms that came with 4 washers per side are the ones that are breaking. If your arms only came with 2 big washers that go on the outside of each arm then you "should" be ok. He said the arms that came with 4 washers per side are pinching the welds and causing them to break.

Just thought I would throw this info out there.

I would take that with a grain of salt. It doesnt make sense. SPC switch to the two washer system and new poly bushings back in 2010-2011. They sent a recall of sorts for all "4 washer arms," not for bad welds, but for bad bushings.

Besides, Lee's arms have two washers...:
