Light Racing UCA's

Ok, so I'm in the garage and got the UCA out and now I'm trying to get the original ball joint out, what is the trick? I removed the slip ring and have hit the top side trying to break it free so it will drop out but no luck. Any ideas?

some people have to use a separator or pitman arm puller. especially if it is an older truck. for mine, i just put the castle nut on (to protect the threads) and "encouraged" it to loosen up with a hammer.

install everything myself
it will take you about 2 hours. if u have not done this before
a few wrenchs some grease a lump hammer and your ready to go
1. jack truck remove wheels
2. remove 10mm and 14mm bolts that retain brake / abs sensor wires
3. loosen castle nut then hit with hammer to break free
4. remove castle nut and use a bungie cord to support the lca n such
5. remove long ucal bolt "bend some fender out of way"
6. install loose then tighten when truck back on ground to 87 ft. lbs
7. get alingment

castle nut is 21mm
and uca bolts 19mm

A. The main idea is to put the control arm bushings in the center of their travel range, so the best thing to do is have the control arm in the center of its travel arc no matter if the vehicle is lifted or lowered. This will ensure the bushings flex the same amount in each direction. This is usually just about horizontal to the ground for most Toyotas. Tightening them at normal ride height is the next best scenario. As is the case with all suspension bushings, the bolts should NEVER be fully tightened while the vehicle suspension is hanging on a hoist.

if you are tyrying to seperate the ball joint from the spindle all you have to do is put the nut half on and HIT the side of the spindle with a lump hammer a few hits will knock it loose
then remove the castle nut and hang the spindle with a bunjie

This is exactly what I did, except it took a little bit more coercing to remove.
