Hey everyone. I hope all is well in TacoLand! I have a wiring question and I figured someone out there has an answer.

I installed a front light bar and a CB, both going directly to battery. I spliced my CB power into the same wires going to the battery.

I mounted new lights on my bed (which is totally awesome and I know when you all see it, you will say "Cool and you will do the same." LOL)

I will have two toggles for right and left light. However, I will have a lot of wires running through my firewall. Is this the only way or does anyone have any other thoughts.

    Thanks in advance.

There is a plug under the drivers seat that you can run your wires to those lights. Firewall would be the long road!

Should only b 3 wires into the cab, to your switch outputs to the relays which in turn will power your lights.
If you are using fancy rockers you can get power under the dash with an add a fuse. Not sure which circuit people are tapping into but i would use the power outlet fuse for my add a fuse. And a 4th wire can be grounded to the bolts/nuts holding your steering column or ran to the neg on battery.

    Thanks for the replies.

Captqc: I see the plugs under the seat but those wires are tiny. I don't feel confident to splice into them (if that is what you are referring) This is my 17 Taco and I don't want to fudge it up.

Broccoli: I will look for the Add a fuse. I would prefer to use a fuse because the direct feed from the battery makes me nervous in event of a short, it could be a disaster. I was thinking I need a power panel or something (like I have on my boat).

Probably referring to the plugs filling holes in the floor, not electrical plugs, which you can poke or drill a smaller hole in to run your wires through like a grommet.

If your saying you have wire(s) connected to your battery without any fuse I would go disconnect them immediately that is very unsafe. You need fuse as close to the battery as possible. You could put an inline fuse on each wire at the battery or you could use a single larger wire and inline fuse at the battery and run that to a aftermarket fuse panel in the cab and run your lights and CB separately from there. The add a fuse is an option so you can tap power from the factory fuse panel without splicing into the trucks wires. Another option would be to splice into something like the power outlets which are already fused.

Yup, I was referring to the plug as a spot to run your wires into the cab. There is power available on the left side under the dash that you could wire your lights off. As mentioned, add an in-line fuse for safety.
