Just curious what is a decent cheap lightbar that can last in the rain?

Also, when installing the lightbar to a standalone switch, Do I need to add a fuse? I'm totally new to this so what to make sure I know what i am doing.

Not sure what you define as cheap. But @CaliRaisedLed has some great affordable light bars that you can get with the full kit and switch. Check them out. Had mine in for over 2years with no issues.

edit: just saw your year. My recommendation may not work for that. Sorry

It was an easy install. There are often times some sort of sale around Hollidays too.

Does the lights look weird at all with the bumper?

    I don’t think it does.

A light bar that big will need it’s own relay for power. The draw is too great for an add a fuse to power the bar if that’s what you meant?

the relay will have its own inline fuse.

power connections to the battery ~ for the light bar
Ground ~ for the light bar
Then wire to switch inside the truck.

an add a fuse to the switch itself may be needed to back lit illumination and a ground as well.

I’ve had the behind the grille caliraised bar since 2017 and has held up well in all elements 4 years later.

also check out diode dynamics for an affordable option ass well.

It's a great addition to have and looks slick, I think.

Also helps in that location with sun damaging the lenses (Cloudy) and extrusion that some get to open weather / sun exposure. Still having access to clean the lens when washing the truck from bugs and dust.

There are a lot of YouTube videos that go through the install.

I had the same concern you had about a “cheap” or affordable light bar that will last
I own products by diode dynamics have there fog lights and there great i use them all the time. I didn’t mind spending the money for them because I know they will last. I also have the hidden light bar that I don’t use a whole lot so I didn’t want to spend to much but didn’t want some POS Chinese knock-off . I ended up going with rough country . Decent price good weather proof rating. And good quality so far no moisture issues. Might want to check them out. I did use caliraised brackets but I wouldn’t buy there lights. Just my opinion

    Cali Raised
    Diode Dynamics
    Rough Country

All around $200-$400. I bought the cali raised bar a couple years ago with the brackets, harness and oem switch, but never got around to installing it. Choices were limited at the time and I didn't want to spend thousands for Baja designs stuff although they make some really awesome setups and I really like their fogs.

If I were to do it again...I really like the Diode Dynamics light bar and their ss3 pro fogs. Very bright, clean light cutoffs, and fair priced. You can check out the lighting thread and get more of the specifics and see what others have chosen. Youtube also has a few videos of these bars in action.

Yeah, I was super interested in the behind the grill just cause how easy it seems to install. I should have said affordable and not cheap LOL. but I think most people understood what I meant,

In my opinion the answer is no. I botched my installation and ended up slightly bending one of the brackets on accident and now the passenger side of the lightbar sits slightly higher than the driver side. Luckily nobody notices the lightbar when its off so its not a huge deal.

Yes. It kinda acts like a spot beam though since most of the light is centered directly ahead
