So I'm having a problem, every time I mash the brake pedal my running lights come on (interior and exterior). Also sometimes my cruise control won't work. The cruise light will come on but the cruise won't do anything. I have also noticed whenever the cruise isn't working the torque converter clutch will not lock up. Just stated this a couple weeks ago. I have replace the Brake Light Switch but nothing changed.

check you battery terminal connections, disconnect clean and retighten them.

this makes sure you have good electrical connections. corroded battery terminals cause cause a lot of weird stuff

if that doesn't solve it then disconnect you trailer light wiring module, they can short out and cause all sorts of weird lighting issues

This. I was having really weird electrical issues where my turn signals wouldn't work when I stepped on the brake, or turned my headlights on. There were a few other weird quirks too but I can't remember exactly what was affected. I traced a bunch of wires looking for a bad ground somewhere, came to the TW forums and saw someone else recommend disconnecting the trailer light wiring module and that fixed it.

if it is the trailer wiring module then don't buy a new one just use my mod to permanently fix it forever http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/lighting/347862-diy-easy-10-trailer-lights-plugin-fix.html

the module goes spastic because it sends power through a transistor that isn't needed and this transistor is what always goes bad and causes all your problems. I think they just use it so it will go bad after a year or so and make you buy another one

Thanks for the suggestions but it turned out to be a faulty Brake/Tail light bulb. Looking at the bulb you couldn't tell it was bad. Both filaments were intact and working but as soon as I replaced the bulb the problems disappeared.
