Good afternoon. I did search!!! And there is soo much information on the headlight upgrades. Si if someone changed their bulbs to something plug and play please let me know what to buy. I’m not really mechanically savvy. I need to update the headlights on my sr5.

please. You don’t have to tell me there are a bunch of threads on this. I know and I’ve read. but I’m hoping to get a simple solution

Thanks for posting this. I fully agree and have been trying to dig through this damn forum to find my information. THERE ARE TOOO many debates and threads.I am in the market for a set of LED replacement foglight bulbs myself. I just wanted to see a thread with a recommendation of simply replacing the LED bulbs in my TRD off road and mabey include a picture. I feel like every Japanese car, truck or SUV deserves yellow or amber fogs.

Please and thank you for any suggestions.

PS. not trying to hi-jack your thread. But figured I would get an answer here regardless. If I dont I will do what you did and delete this in a few days if no replies.

Phillips H9s High and low, for low ether remove the green cover in the harness side of the connector or get H11 to H9 adaptors

the problem is LEDs emitter faces are about 30% wider than the with of the filament winding of an incandescent lamp and the high output LEDs are 6500K
you will never get a good bubl swap
just get some Diode Dynamic LED fogs in Selective Yellow and call it good you will probably want the SS Max given your snow climate

I have ran HIDs LEDs and Halogens. The H9 upgrade is very simple snd gives the best output for a simple upgrade. Drop in LEDs just don't work properly.

Your led fogs don’t have bulbs. It’s a sealed unit. If all you’re looking for is yellow light people have had success putting tinted film over the lenses. Lamin-x I believe it’s called.
To upgrade you’ll need new units. Diode dynamics and Baja Designs are the two popular choices around here. If you’re going to use them in traffic you should use SAE fogs so you don’t blind other drivers
@2wdSR52022 the sticked lighting thread is pretty much all you need, but it’s very long. H9 bulbs are what are already in your high beams and they are the top recommended upgrade for your low beams. It’s a very simple “mod”

H9s since you just want an answer. The research has been laid out in the first post of the long thread,, but the end result is H9s.

I did and am very happy - info came from this web site: https://www.bulbfacts.com/.(look at "Aftermarket LEDs" and select "Chart". They actually test bulbs and post results.

Based on their recommendation: for low beams, which are projector type, I have Hikari 2023 Future H8/9/11 (Amazon sells them).
For high beams, which are reflector type, I have DDM Tuning 65w Saber ProX.

A bit more details - in the past LED's used to have a thick heat sink (which the LED chip mis mounted on), and the result was really poor beam shape - in those days, upgrading to LED was a worse choice than a high quality Halogen. Newest LED's, like the premium options above, have a very thin heat sink (and use more exotic materials for heat conductivity) - the result is a fantastic beam shape that is even better than my Lexus tri-beam LEDs. I do recommend.

I’m very happy with these. Price is right too. I have them in both the highs and lows.

Same set I tried. Appears brighter but the actual usable light at distance is trash in comparison to the H9 upgrade. No actual hot spot. I even went as far as to try the h9 led in the low beam.

I don’t experience this at all, much better vs the halogen lamps that came with the vehicle.

I have been using Didoe Dynamics SL1 high and low beams for about 5 years with no issues whatsoever. Nice cut off lines, wider beam and it works well for me. It puts a nice beam as it a huge improvement over stock and I tried the GE Mega halogens and the SL1s are tome better. I'm lifted and never been flashed, I thought about upgrading to the OEM lights, but I rarely drive at night and if I do it's in my old 99 4Runner or the Wife's new 4Runner.

A buddy at work got Auxito leds and now like 10 of us run them here.
He loves his and has been running them for like 3 yrs no issues.
I’ve used them also yellow fogs and now headlights absolutely happy with them.
Fans are quiet light is awesome and they last. I believe they have a 2 yr warranty on their stuff also.
Later when it gets dark I’ll snap a picture and add it here.

Ok, thanks for the responses and for the suggestions. I just do not understand, I have a GR corolla as well as the tacoma. And I under stand they are different cars etc. But recently got a set of yellow/amber LED foglight bulbs and just simply swapped them out for the OEM ones for the new ones.

I looked at my window sticker on my taco and it said I got the upgraded LED foglights and headlights, so I made the assumption that I could just do the same thing with the LED bulbs.

Bottom line, it seems like the LAMIN-X film would be my best bet, rather then upgrading the entire bulb which according to the post above its " a sealed unit"?

Thanks again, this forum has just gotten sooo big (IMO) that its hard to find a definitive answer.

I don't really care about beam specs, and what not. Going from an SR SX which I had before with the amber DRL's and I had some Baja amber fogs, added to the truck. I assumed it would be an easy swap out with bulbs on my new TRD OFF ROAD. But apparently its alot more complicated accordings to posts.

Yes, if you have the upgraded LED head lights and fog lights, both are sealed units.

If you go with yellow film over your stock LED fog lights, you'll slightly lose light output. If you're looking to upgrade the fog light go for Baja Designs or Diode Dynamics (Elite Series, SS3 Sport/ Pro, etc.)

Those actually decrease output and seeing distance when used in a halogen housing
