This happened last summer with my wife's 2013 Rav4! It wasn't hit directly, but near it. Fried the ECM, throttle body control, and ABS system ($7500 in parts). Took a week to get the ECM installed, then the other codes came up. After a month in the shop (and 3 different rental cars) we got the car back. I drove it over the pass (from Bend to Corvallis, OR) and it wouldn't crank that night. Towed it back to Bend (over the mountain pass), back to Toyota. Another week in the shop with the local Toyota dealer communicating to Toyota in California because they couldn't figure it out, to find out that a $20 EFI relay was shot as well. It's been running great over a year since this happened. Toyota was great and they service advisor was from Florida, where this happens occasionally. USAA insurance covered everything except our deductible. The adjuster, however, is another story... Best of luck with your situation.

Good to hear that Toyota fixed it.

Had 2 cars towed in last year that were next to a house that got hit. The Chevy cruise needed a starter, ecm, and bcm. A little over $1000 in repairs. The Tacoma that was parked next to it wound up being over $7000. Ecm, alternator, charcoal canister, air injection driver, gas pedal, combination meter, skid control module, and Im sure a few other things Im forgetting. We have had other cars that insurance totals before we even get into diag.

I dumped my State Farm auto insurance after Hurricane Katrina. SF was screwing over everyone down here and I decided they didn't need anymore of my money.
