I'm looking to get a softopper this summer and also want to put lights up high. Years ago I had two Hella lights on the cross bar of the roof rack of my XJ and loved it. They were up high which helped with deer spotting and there was no glare. I currently have ditch lights on a white Taco and it's not nearly as nice. The glare is rough and hurts my ability to see at night. The three options I'm considering are:

A: A single, probably custom roll bar style light bar that is compatible with the future softopper. Is there a bar I'm overlooking? Folks do full racks over the topper but I need to use the bed sometimes for mulch and so on, thus the softopper.

B: A simple roof mounted cross bar. I've seen a few options for around $150 that don't require the full roof track system. I would just install the rear one. This is a good option but may be taller than necessary.

C: I haven't found these yet but I'm sure they exist; you know those small brackets that mount near the top of the windshield for full width lights bars? I want something like that except compatible with the mounting holes at the rear of the roof. I could probably adapt any bracket that's flat instead of curved for the front of the roof. In that case I would buy a light bar and be done.

The problem with options B and C is how to cleanly route the cabling but this isn't a huge deal since the softopper would help hide it.

Any links for products in the above options or something rad I haven't thought of would be appreciated.
