On my '96 Tacoma when I turn my lights on, the lights on the climate controls do not come on. The radio beneath it lights up fine. Everything works fine, just no lights. Kind of a pain at night. One light does work -- if I tun on the A/C, that button lights up.

Is this an easy fix, or does the whole unit have to be replaced (as I was told by one repair place).

Ugh, hopefully it is just bad bulbs and not an electrical issue. I had to replace the bulbs on 02 before, which was fairly easy. I'm not familiar with how to do it in the 96's, but it shouldn't be that difficult.

I've got the exact same issue myself, all lights dark except fur the a/c button. Curious to know if this issue is a "thing" with our rigs...

yep, usually just the bulbs, they burn out on one side and its something you don't notice until they both go out

they pull straight out from the front but just be careful pushing the new bulbs in, its easy to break the tiny tabs off the socket holders then it turns into a PITA trying to get it back into the hole without taking the whole damn control apart to do it

Wait, you said "they pull straight out from the front". What 'they' are you talking about? The climate control head unit? Or I pull the unit it out, and then the light bulbs are easy to access? Any pointer on where I get replacement bulbs?
