I have a 1995 Tacoma, and i was curious about the lights behind your grill? there is a forum on here, but i was wondering.. if i got the lights behind the grill, wouldn't that effect the air flow? I don't want to buy one of those hideous snorkel things.
    thanks, Anthony. :crapstorm:

No, it would affect airflow nearly enough to hurt anything, and snorkels are awesome.

What does a snorkel have to do with blocked air from the grille?

Some of this Some of that
yeah I'm lost with your logic about the snorkel also... To mount lights behind the grille you'd have to satoshi the thing or cut out holes for the lights.

Really wanting to try to mount some lights in mine without a satoshi by cutting out the oem grille just really don't want to mess up lol so have been putting it off.. More then likely will just end up with a led bar

Your a 2nd gen. It can be done. Seen it.

He is a 1st gen. And a 95 at that. We have the smallest grills on tacomas.

OP. airflow won't be effected..my lf240 don't and they are 8" granted in from of grill but same thing pretty much.

I wouldn't pu a light behind our grill though. Too small.

Then what the hell is a snorkel for then?

Snorkel moves the point the motor draws in air up higher above the cab instead of in the wheel well.

But you still need air to move across the radiator to cool your engine

X2. I'm running LF240's in front of my grille also. Mine are actually butted up to the grille and I've never had an overheating problem while running down the highway.

I was going to do what you are talking about and mount them behind my grill... there is not enough room for a high output light that doesn't look stupid in there.
here is what I did with Hella 500FF's, they have been converted to HID's since then.

I did the lights behind the grill and like the looks and haven't had any problem. I've got some compliments on it too. Only down side I noticed is the mesh kinda lowers the amount of light output. With that said I have 55w HIDs in them and its still bright.

    Bone stock for now....
I run driving lights behind my stock grill and really don't notice any more reduction in brightness over my grillcraft mesh. Mounted on a BAMF light bar.
