so of course the gas struts are too weak just like everyone told me it would be and the door wont quite stay open. (I want my instant canopy damnit). So am going to take the struts that were removed from bottom door mount them parallel with the existing ones on the top. Trying to avoid spending $$ so will see if it works. Should get to that tomorrow.

    Reserected from the dead.

Get some PVC pipe that is larger than the piston on the strut, but smaller than the shock toimages_dea1d31c42c49b29d84ace6e2ae8d63e2fddb20c.jpg put over the piston and use it to prop the door open.

Hurt myself so been neglecting the camper.
Did manage to twin the struts to keep the mega door open, re-used the ones i removed from bottom so free bee. Again, Lots of messing around to make it work, but it its pretty sweet and simple.

Wasnt happy with both locks on the rear door being in the center, so moved one to the bottom. Pulled the skin off, cut out the frame and welded it on to bottom and recut hole in skin.

Moving the lock helps keep door closed tight at bottom and better for security. Re mounting the slidy bar lock mechanism was interesting but works just dandy.

On a side note, I re purposed this cabinet into my welder cart/fab table. Both ends have flip up tables with holes that expose welder controls and other for cooling and the power cord. Helps keep welder out of sight from theft and keeps everything tidy with room for gas bottle and all accesories.

Fixed up the gap on rear door. Really stiffened things up.

Got it fastened together with stainelss bolts down the sides and rivits on the front. used 3/4" weatherstrip and spray foam to fill in the gaps. Too many projects so things are going sloooow.

Was concerned about strength of frame around the door as it will be a tie down point, so I gave her the screws

This can of boiled linseed oil came with the house I bought and looks to be just as old. Sleeping platform notched and oiled

    So many pieces of insulation....
I cut 20mm strips to pick up top radius, worked well enough.

This was a game changer. Bought another moto lift just for this project, was starting to hurt my back working down low.

    Thanks.
I have it on a 5x9’ sled trailer at the moment, will take a pic later. For long trips I hope to build a simple skid for my truck and it will sit ontop of that with storage underneath.
