Will use up this extra sign board from the interior to help weather proof the gap

Have 3 movie screens that i hope to make some kind of awnings from. Will see what that looks like.

Edit: have since ditched this idea, the water stays out pretty well.

I cut down one of the screens from 96” down to 60”, put it back together, and welded a 1/4” impact bit to the axle of it. It rolls up like a champ with a drill on in. This will help protect the slide out from the weather i hope.

If it works, then it’s not ghetto.

So i got the egg onto the trailer, was concerned my lift points would fail with the added weight of the eggstension. Amazing how strong 1/8” aluminum held in with 1/4” sheet metal screws can be.

Made the blue filler pieces out of corrugated plastic, they just slide in. simple and cheap way to keep out the weather.

This trailer also double duties as a sled hauler, so i had a beat up old plywood slush guard that i scraped, sanded, painted one side and oiled the other. Built a flip down table to match.
Need to figure out how to keep it propped up without legs and closed during travel

Moved the camper as far back as i could this year and it offered up some real estate in the front.
Awning found a home. It was a a nice suprise to see it fit as i didnt plan for it.
Made the sides fold down so the awning could be removed and i like the result. I plan on carrying 30lb propane, fuel, water, firewood up here. Looks like five to six 5gal gas cans fit up here for reference.

Had to have a way to secure the extension for travel. Also turns out the door for the extension will only open when its pushed forward (oops) so to the front it goes. I hope to wrap a strap around entire thing that will secure it to the front wall.
One of my original goals was to be able to lock at least 2 mountain bikes in here, hope that will work out.

Built a flip up dog bed/clothes storage platform. Dog didnt seem to mind, and now he can look out the window on rainy days.
Avoided having legs by making the 2x3 cross bar removable. Our feet will be under this when we are sleeping. Could be a card table too?

He is 65 lb and this set up is held to the camper with five 1/4” sheet metal screws. Will keep an eye on it and add more if needed

Nice. Looks like you had a decent about of snow. Did it preform the way you hoped for?

muddy shoes stayed out of our sleeping area and there was way more room for dry storage now so I say its a winner. A bit clumsy to set up by oneself but definantly managable.

Version 1.0 of the slide out earned its keep, so as i promised, here goes version 2.0
Reclaimed some aluminum tube, its 1/8” wall 1x2” 6061. It has a few holes from the previous project, but that is ok.
Added 1’ in length for a total of 5’, and a bit more headroom but not much. Anything helps.

Looks like the old door is going to work so thats nice.
Going super light on this. Just picked up 4 “, 4x8’ sheets of white corrugated plastic (sign board) for the sheeting. Went to my local plastics shop and they were $20/sheet compared to the stupid box store at $42. Shop local gang.

1/2” plywood floor stained with boiled linseed oil. Roll it on wet, let it sit, then wipe it down well or else it gets sticky (so I hear).
Make sure you dry the wet rags outside as they can self ignite.

Test fit. Looks like it works. Nice to have version 1.0 to take measurements from.
