10% rule would have tongue at 210’ish. Even 350 shouldn’t have been a problem for normal usage

I want a story from the dealers mouth. I've heard 2 different weights, granted I haven't done much digging though.

That's the problem with the story that the truck owner is pushing: he has not produced any documents from the dealer/GM. He showed off a few pictures of the aftermath and of course the frame just crumpled up driving slowly down a nice dirt road, right? I'm sure that there's no way that he hucked it over a rut or some other obstacle at a high rate of speed while towing off-road, just turn your brain off and accept his story.

Trailer is only rated for 2000 lbs. He hit that whoop doing 25 to 40 mph. The math of the physics says broken.

Dude we haven't had official/verified anything from any side (as far as I know, again, no digging from me). At this point as far as I'm concerned, it's all been speculation. Both are posturing. We can sit here in our Toyota echo chamber and gang up, talk shit, Pat each other on the back, or we can wait for the truth and let the proof dictate reaction, instead of the opposite.

How does Chevy reach their load ratings? Static or dynamic? Genuinely curious

Exactly. No one knows anything. We're all ganging up to "fight" the other. It's tribalism at it's finest. It's too easy to pile on and talk shit.

I honestly dont care one way or the other how this guy fairs. Just like the guy who had the rear axle ripped off his Tacoma during a recovery gone wrong.

I'm not speculating, I'm just noting the conspicuous lack of evidence by the guy who wants GM to buy him a new frame. If GM has done all the things that the owner has stated happened why not post up documentation? There's no evidence to show that GM failed and I have a hard time believing that the fully-boxed and hydro-formed frame crumpled just by driving down a dirt road.

I *think* we have the same train of thought here. There's no proof one way or the other, so I think we're in agreement. If either one had a sure win, we'd know about it.

<edit> so somebody downstream posted a hitch rating of 2000lbs. Surprised me for a ZR2, but hey, I didn’t do the digging.
