I was doing the Appalachian by-way from TN to MD this past week when my trip was cut short due to blowing a CV boot along the trail. I’m not sure what happened, there’s no tears in the boot yet there’s grease everywhere and looks like the boot maybe slid off the hub? I’m running Fox 2.5 ext. travel with DK LCA and JBA UCA’s. No sway bar. (Truck drives like a cloud it’s great)
Could this be from too much droop up front?
Should I order some limit straps?

Looking at those pictures, is the large hose clamp gone on that boot or just hard to see?

This must be a really long Monday too

That’s pretty interesting then... maybe it just failed and that was your issue. If it pulled off in tact, I would have expected to see it still on the cv. It could have been thrown off while driving but would probably have torn up the boots before it happened.

If the boot is in good shape, you might be able to get away with adding grease and a new hose clamp and call it a day. Unless you got it fixed already.

to me it looks like the axle (small) side is torn wide open and crumped over the clamp?
if you drooped enough for the boot to make any contact with the boot it can easily happen and will happen again.
definitely worth taking a look through the suspension cycle
