Removed factory bed cover and installed UnderCover Elite. Added LOCKERDOWN console safe.
Can you say a little more on your "sound deadening" please. The Limited comes with a thicker mat to start, so what all are you doing. That is one of the problem areas, road noise.

AR15- But what's your beef towards the Limited when it has more features than the Sport? I understand people are not chrome fans, and it is just 1 size bigger on the wheel. I prefer the painted over chrome myself, but it still looks nice. I would also rather have some 16's instead, but again it still looks nice. Chrome vs painted is just a matter of preference. Most limited drivers are going to be geared towards street driving and obviously TRD off road will be towards the trails. I find myself wanting a factory leather type so it is easy to clean which narrowed my selection as I am sure quite a few other limited owners had the same issue. They aren't cheap and I realize I paid the premium to get the features I wanted, but by far the Limited has been my favorite driving experience.

The Sport is painted while the Limited is chromed. I will say the same thing with the wheel/tire difference. Negligible cost wise as this is just a preference. Sport has cloth seats and a fake hood scoop while Limited has SofTex plus the heated seats. Limited has upgraded JBL system and the HomeLink mirror. Price difference is $3,300. This isn't a ridiculously unreasonable number. So is the preference of chrome and 1 size wheel size the issue?

I was really hoping that they would have had something at the Detroit Auto show regarding the new tacoma. I am liking the proposed gas mileage from the new F-150. I wish Toyota would take some pages from Ford's playbook. Like it or not, those Ecoboost engines have some impressive stats. If they could implement some form of turbo to improve power and save gas, I'm in.

Many things are issues in my opinion. Its a lot of plastic chrome and i hear some say the leather is faux (vinyl) and the wheels are chrome clad or plastic covered (somehow done cheaply) but i've never been close to one to look. At the price of them and me not needing a four door and not liking four door pickups....if i wanted a limited, i would've bought a 4runner and been happy to pay for its features and save money VS. a loaded Tahoe equivalent.

At the price they want for a limited tacoma....i don't see why some people wouldn't just say, "well for about the same price, maybe a little more out the door, i can have a full size truck and have more room."

18s and chrome are just not for me. If i lived in flat area of the world and commuted while using my truck to do odd jobs and camp/hunt/fish....i would be fine with a limited preRunner and get great mileage while having a really pretty truck....(even if i'm not crazy about the chrome it still looks nice when clean and not pitted or faded). But there is also that point of, for a little more i could have more.........and that same phrase is also why so many people move up to the Tundra....

People will buy only what they want and what suits them. I'm only speaking by means of opinion, i'm not hating, or disliking on anyone's vehicles. I simply have my own needs and preferences.

You are right about the JBL being an awesome sound system for a stock system. Now they could increase the amps it puts put and maybe add another subwoofer. That would make it one of the best sound systems on the market.

That's fine AR, I was just curious. If they would have had all the options of Limited in a TRD Sport for the painted handles/mirrors, with the TRD Off road 16" wheels, that would have been my selection.

Its good for an upgraded sound system but if I had the money and didn't give a crap about my hearing I would get the craziest sound system I could build lol.

I was actually torn between a used Ford F-150 FX2 or FX4 with the Ecoboost but it was a good chunk more even for the used vehicle. I didn't really trust the Ford reliability as I plan to drive it 400k+ miles and decided next best for me was a used low mileage 2013 Limited for $31k with 100k warranty and 1.9% APR. The sound system was one of the major selling points aside from the must-have leather type seats (the SofTex is pretty durable and overall I like it a lot, even more than leather - it isn't a cheesy vinyl. It feels like thick leather). My wife would not be too keen on me dropping cash into an aftermarket radio with some 10 subs or something so when I heard the quality of the JBL, it honestly impressed me a ton. It is not a normal stereo by any means and the bass and quality is ridiculous. I urge you to listen to it next time you are at the dealer. It sure makes my drive pretty enjoyable + jamming to Pandora and no commercials!

I won't lie... I wanted a limited. When I looked for one the dealers in Socal told me there were 2 within 200 miles of me. A black one and a dark gray one.

I wanted blue. Toyota of Escondido would have happily ordered one for me in blue, but they had my truck on hand and the only thing it did not have that the limited had was the softec seats and the badges. It has everything else and it is the color I wanted. If I want the softec seats I can always pay to have them re-upholstered.

As I have gotten older I guess I just figure if you're going to get a vehicle you may as well get it with all the goodies.

Amen to that. You can get the Katzkin leather seats and for my money they are better than the stock stuff (I had them installed on my '08 Tundra).

The SofTex is pretty nice actually. In a truck, starting to like it more than regular leather since it is stronger. It seems really durable but looks and feels like leather.

SofTex is really good for sweaty drivers since it is more breathable than leather.

The softex is junk in my opinion it feels cheap and I would rather have real leather or wet okole seat covers.

A relative has abused the Softex in their Prius for a couple of years and it's proven to be durable, easily cleaned and hasn't cracked or wrinkled. Everyone thinks leather is the gold standard, but if you have kids or dogs you can keep it.

At first I was highly upset the Limited did not have leather and was rather turned off by it, but it was still better than cloth since it can be wiped off. I got the Limited anyways.

Now, I am starting to really like the SofTex and looked up online about it. SofTex is just engineered leather type to keep the good properties I would want. My previous Honda Accord began to crack and show wear with age. My SofTex shows no wear at all. It is more resistant to scratches, reflects heat/up rays to keep it cooler in summer and help with sweaty drivers like myself, does not get stiff and is always soft, doesn't crack, and is breathable, yet does not absorb stains as easy as leather (never found this to be an issue).

Not sure I would call it junk like others have, I would bet they haven't tried it.

I'm currently waiting the arrival of my 2014 Tacoma Limited, should be coming in soon. However, I'm not able to speak through experience on some of the concerns/dislikes but I'll have to agree with most that it has a bit more chrome then desired but nothing on the vehicle looks cheap. About the "fake leather" seats, their actually Softex, which is still not real leather. I bought and still have a 2013 Prius Persona that has the Softex seats, I personally love them. Softex looks and feels like high quality material and unlike real leather, softex doesn't wear (that much). I've had the car for a little more then a year and the seats look brand new. I should also mention that I have a 50 pound dog that loves to ride in the car too, so hate all you want on the softex but I don't no anyone with leather seats that would be in half the shape mine are after the same usage.

bbaggett - It seems like your pretty satisfied with your softex. Have you had any issues with your wearing or fading?
