Just purchased a stock 2007 Toyota Tacoma 4WD, 6 Cylinder, Auto, Double Cab TRD Package with 37K miles. I had a 3 inch Rev-Tech lift kit installed, TRD Cold Air Intake and 285/75/17 Dick Cepek Off Road tires. Just did a road trip and the truck will only go up to 75mph in 5th gear, have to downshift to 4th gear and 4200 rpm to get another 5-7 mph. Has anyone ever experienced or know why this is happening?
    Thanks:confused:

I'd say it's as simple as r+p being to tall.

yeah it could be that the engine is straining to produce enough torque to the wheels to do anything. you may have to get your tranny ratios moved around

Or simply just install new gears. If you've got 3.73's go to 4.56's errr something like that. I'd say go for the axle gears. Just my opinion.

How do they move tranny ratios around? Never heard of this.

Good Thought. The lift and tires are minimal. Not sure why I am being limited??

well yeah, Ive heard of guys having issues with larger tires on a stock tranny ratios and describing teh same problem he is having. I dont think it could be anything elese, but then again, i could be wrong.

that could also be an issue too. or his air filter could be clogged or some component with the computer.

I have the same truck/lift/tire combo and 80mph in 5th is no problem. Was there a major head wind?

Just had the TRD Cold Air Intake installed. I assume it comes out of the box ready for install with no additional filters?

yeah, is it an oil free filter, meaning you dont have to oil it to clean it? if so then it could be the MAF sensor screwing up the engine power
