Based on this issue and some of the design I've seen so far working on my Taco I'm not even sure I'll want to buy another Toyota.

I'd take Japanese over GM any day of the week. Not to sound unpatriotic, but I'm through with American car companies. Quality has taken a dive over the years for all products as demand to please shareholders for profits increase. Toyota is in danger of becoming like GM if they continue on their current path.

Just now got a call from the dealer. Mine goes for coating on Monday, the 7th of July, and they will have it back to me on Thursday. Rental car provided. I'll post before and after pics for the curious.

If they dealers made these kits, they would could make a lot money doing so. But also helping out people that have already had their frames coated (like me). But I think starting in 2012 (or 2013) and up Tacoma's already have the plugs in the frame, so adding plugs to later trucks is not necessary.

I was at the dealership today. They confirmed that my truck was on the list and Wisconsin would be in the third group to receive inspections.
Side note, no Tacomas on the showroom floor:( but six on the lot. Salesman said they could barely keep them in stock.

My 2012 has some of the plugs (inside wheel wells front). But, there are many more that are not plugged and can store salt and sand ....

Did not know that. But from the plug kit they are putting on the trucks after the LSC is performed, it should fix that. It would be nice to see when someone gets their frame coated or replaced, and see all the plugs that should be in place now.

sounds like another losing battle with these frames. so far happy I traded for the new f150. if I was from the south or where they dont use salt, the tacomas a great truck.

I wouldn't buy GM either. But ford makes good trucks and they don't have anywhere near the issues these Tacos are having. Plus you can actually change your balljoints for less than 1300$

I believe the F150 is the best selling P U in the US.

Good thing, because you'll be replacing them every 75k was my experience with a Ford truck.

LOL. On the other hand there are at least 2 member making $$ because we have to change wheel bearings at the same rate.

My last ford the leaf spring mounts (front & rear) rusted off the frame:eek: Then the dealership could not ID the needed replacement parts. My Taco doesn't seem to have that much "cancer", but we'll see.

Just took my 06 DCLB 4x4 (113k) in to the dealer yesterday. It has a nice size hole by the driver side cat just like the others on here. They took pictures of the frame and body to show Toyota corporate. I will post up more info when I hear back from them.

From PA here. I spoke with the service rep from three local dealerships and they all said-be patient. I was just ready to POR-15 the frame this weekend. Glad I saw this thread. They said that they are starting in the upper northeast and then moving down region by region. They are doing this so they can stock all the parts they need and not have a lot of downtime waiting for parts. Unfortunately that is all I could get out of them. I was ready to purchase a lift in early fall and they all said to hold off. I have an 06 Off-Road with 138K.

I have a ranger is 240k on it that passes etests with better numbers than brand new vehicles. Even lower numbers than Civics.

My father in law had an 88 up until 2004 with nearly 400k and now his 2003 has 200k on it and its running fine.

Not sure what you did to your fords to kill them with only 120k on them.

I figured if I left Toyota, I'd go back to GM. But since GM is recalling almost every vehicle they've put out in the last 5 years, I don't who else I'd go with.

so is everyone's plan to get this done asap when eligible?

i'm debating. my frame is in pretty decent shape. the old finish is falling off, but the metal looks ok. i figure if they did it this year, it would almost certainly be the coating. but with the finish coming off, i would expect the rust to pick up...and who knows...maybe by 2016 it will be rusted enough to get the new frame which is what i would prefer since it also involves replacing other components and in essence, gives you a new bottom end. or do you get the coating now, and hope it fails...and being toyota, it likely will.....and then wait for a frame later... or even better a buy back in 5 years. i'd love an above blue book buy back... strategy what to do, what to do.
