You can choose to wait until the last minute and see if perforation exists then. Just make sure you DO comply before the deadline and get it done or you'll have zero recourse for ignoring it.

I was told there would never be any buyback beyond the '95-2000 model recall. It was either coating or replacement frames going forward. I'd LOVE 150% of NADA... That would be $35k for me but that'll never happen.

I guess it's your choice, but don't forget and then miss out altogether!

I've always had good luck with Ford trucks. Ford cars is another case but ford trucks are excellent. that being said, I buy trucks to use as a truck. I know some people buy them because they like the look... That I don't know about but ford trucks used as work horses are very good. Better than toyota I'd say.

Mix up a load of brine and spray the inside of the frame every few days to save time. ;):D

    Spintly,
I'm up in VT w/ an '05 dbl cab w/ 107K. I've been approved for a new frame (they said they will get me in in 6 weeks or so) and that if I want a lift or anything installed while they're in there to just have it ready for them. It will be a nominal fee for labor, but no charge for stuff like an alignment that they have to do anyways.

Was thinking.... Don't ships have a block of sacrificial zinc bolted to their outside hauls to prevent rust? LOL, lets all do that!

    water conducts

    air does not

will not work and neither do the electronic systems that say they do. total sham. again they only work with conductive material surrounding the object.

I just spent the past 3 weekends under my truck fixing Toyotas mistake - so yea I looked into everything I could to stop this POS frame from eating itself to bits.

Toyota of Portsmouth. Service manager actually called me the other day to schedule my appointment. October 6th or something. Again I mentioned I had already coated it inside and out and that it was covered with fluid film too. They said they would double check with their body shop but that it shouldn't be a problem. Guess it'll be a while before I put a set of Bilsteins in it....

I would be grateful if you tell us what the Dealers responds back with concerning Fluid Film. I want to take my later model Taco in for Fluid film coating in the next couple weeks ...

Thanks and good luck with your inspection

Yes, the Tacoma has been a disappointment, a great looking truck!!, no doubt about it!, I have an "09" with under 30k, and the frame looks like it was used as a boat anchor, I was hoping to keep this truck for the long haul, but just might get rid of it, I really like the Tacoma but I think I will look at the Nissan Titan, (not sure what problems they have) jmop

Bristol Toyota in Bristol, RI replaced the frame on my '05 DC 2 week ago. I brought it to them in May for the seat belt recall and dropped a 2"X 3" piece of the frame on the service desk and asked for an frame inspection. There was a perforation near the drivers side cat.

It took two weeks for the frame to come in and 3 days for the replacement. They gave me a Corolla to use.

When I got it back, it had a new frame, new LCA's and ball joints, new rear leafs, rear wiring harness and brake lines.

More details in this thread: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...fficial-perforated-rusted-through-frames.html

Did the new leafs change your rear height at all? Is it the 4-pack instead of the 3? My '05 DC is going in next month.

The new 4 leafs did slightly change the ride height. Firmer ride and noticeable difference when towing my car trailer. Mine is the TRD Sport AC w/tow.

Is anyone who's getting a new frame looking into replacing the hitch assembly? I'm guessing yours all look as crappy as mine (despite the sanding and painting last summer)! From what I've seen online it looks under $200; I'll have to ask Toyota about price on OEM, too.

Totaled but still alive! Frame 2.0, Fog lights anytime, Seatbelt reminder delete, Secondary air filter delete, LED bed lights, Running boards, 2017 Rims, Ultra gauge, Cup holder/consol/glove compartment lights, Interior LED conversion, Blue Sea aux. fuse panel, fuse panel mounting plate by Yotamac, ProEFX heated towing mirrors, LED engine bay lights, Redline Quicklift Elite hood struts, Wet Okole Heated Seat Covers,m, Rear bumper 2.0, Decal free visors, Washable cabin air filter, Overhead consol auto dimming override switch, BulletProof Fabricating Skid plate, 2lo module.
I would argue that since the hitch assembly holds on the rear bumper that it is part of the frame. Mine is a rusted mess. I have confirmed that my truck is on the LSC list. Unfortunately/ maybe fortunately Wisconsin is in the third group of states that will have this done.

I talked to the dealer about this and was told that since the hitch is an option and not a required item it is not covered....mine is so gone that I wont tow with it and will wait till my appointment on the 29th of sept to see what happens

At least your on the list robssol, Iowa is not included in the approved "cold weather states".

I only live 2 miles from WI as the crow flies, can see Wyalusing State Park from my back yard, do a lot of driving in the PdC area, work in your state and even pay WI income tax. Must be something with The River!
