I'll be in contact with the dealer yet again tomorrow- they said they won't replace the frame unless it has a 10mm hole, something needs to be done!

Why in the world would they just spray over the rust/ corrosion and not at least scrape off the loose flakes first? Insanity... Like that is going to help anything. It will actually make it worse. That's why I decided (after having the same issue you are having) to just do it myself and know that 10 years from now, I won't own a pile of rust.

Still haven't gotten my truck back- I called the nhtsa and they told me to call the federal trade association which I did and filed a claim- the fta said if anyone else is having the same issue as me contact them so we have more of a fight, next step is to contact the states attorneys general for more info.....

I took my 08 with 70k miles in for a frame inspection. I knew it would pass because I had already inspected the problem areas. I just wanted to get it coated to have the frame warranty. The service manaager said it was one of the best frames he had seen and he didn't want to coat it because the coating has been flaking off and is messy. He said he was going to talk to his area rep and get back to me. He called me today saying about a month ago they switched corrosion resistant compounds. My frame is scheduled to get coated Dec 15 so hopefully this stuff is an improvement. Anyone have any experience or information from Toyota on the new compound?

I ended up trading my truck in and sad to say I did not buy another Toyota, (and will NEVER) again, all my family members have gotten rid of their toyotas except 2 of them, why have a vehicle if the company can't stand behind their product?!?

I also don't blame you, sorry for you issues. I had my frame inspected in June, and when I took it back in to a different dealer to get the coating done they found a hole so the frame is getting replaced. I now have to wait 4-6 months through a midwest winter without my truck while it sits and rots in their lot, which is really frustrating. If it had enough equity to put a decent down payment on a new vehicle by trading mine in, I would have done it already, but right now it doesn't make sense financially to do that.

I have to get mine inspected soon. Hopefully it is rust free since its been in the south west its whole time. I have $7K invested in this truck between the TRD supercharger, TRD brakes and stereo upgrade.

Mine goes in on the 28th for frame replacement. I was told they will do (have to because it's a safety recall) the rear spring replacement at the same time, but will not automatically reinstall my currently installed add a leaf into the new springs (2 hour labor charge). I am wondering what else they are going to nickel & dime me for. When the truck failed inspection they had me sign a form that stated I was responsible for any "incidental costs" so they could order the frame. I've already shelled out over $1000 to replace the lca bushings and eccentric bolts just so I could get a $60 alignment when I got my new tires and replace the calipers when I needed front brake pads. Anybody know if I have any recourse on the money I spent fixing the lca's since they're going to replace them anyway? This is my 7th Toyota truck, but my first Tacoma. I'm frustrated and disappointed beyond belief with this thing. It may get traded or sold when the frame is done.

The add a leaf will be your dime.
You will be getting new LCAs & bushings no charge.
I do not think u have any recourse for the bushings, but that sounds like too much $.

I fixed the frame rot and rear spring issue since Toyota refused to deal with it - traded the damned thing off , and not for another Toyota . Piss on 'em...I'll keep my Cruiser despite it being rusty and tired - it was built when Toyota knew what they were doing and didn't let the bean counters run the engineering department . In my opinion , they went the way of GM ...

Took my truck in to Joel Confer Toyota in State College, Pa to get my frame inspected.

I had some issues with getting a rental, so the maintenance guys went out in the lot and looked at my frame right away without even saying anything to me. They came back in and told me I'm eligible to get a new frame.

I was extremely happy and satisfied with my experience. Replacement is in 6 months. 75k on my '06.

I had the same issue, I took it in to the dealer that originally did my inspection and they told me they couldn't give me a rental. I called a different dealer, and dropped it off the next day. I have been in a brand new Highlander ever since, and will never return to the other dealer which unfortunately is 10 min from my house. I didn't have the notice that came in the mail at the time, but it says right on it that a loaner vehicle will be provided at no cost to you.

those who have gone through the CRC application...do you know if they lift the bed or cab up to access the top of the frame? or do they leave everything bolted together?
