hey guys i was just wondering how well does the truck perform when i offroad? i live in el paso so pretty much just soft sand around here and when it rains we get some pretty slushy mud. considering i do not have a 4x4 is it possible for me to go offroading with some buddies who all have jeeps and can probably get places that my 2wd probably cant? haha i just would hate to be getting stuck everytime. anyone care to share tips, experiences, etc. thanks loving tacomaworld for all the info! :)

you can do about 90% of what 4x4 can do, but it pretty much depends on the drivers skills. You have an LSD close to pretty much being open diff when off-roading. Try to get a rear swap or put in a locker it'll cost a good amount, but if your really really worred you can trade in.

I'd be careful trying to keep up with Jeeps (at least the Wrangler/Rubicon types) and depending on the shape of their rigs.
I went wheeling with some Jeepers in my truck...and I was getting into tough situations left and right because of the wheel base differences. I was also able to pull one of their guys out when they couldn't- so it goes both ways.

You can get a lot of places a 4x4 can get with some smart driving and skills. But you have to know how much you are willing to try/potentially mess up your rig/etc before you can just go off where ever and try stuff.

2wd Sport, stock LSD. Rocks in the sand. I'm not much of a rock crawler or mudder, so it works well for what I like to do.

I'm lovin your Radiant Red truck. Hey how are those wheels the raceline renegade 6? Are they 16"s if so do the clear the brake in front and rear? I'm still working on buying a set. OP, my prerunner does pretty well in rain, slushy snow, mild mud. So far it's surviving this winter here in Washington.

Coming from a fromer 07 Jeep Jk wrangler owner.

I would say your pushing your luck. If you had a 4wd then you can easily. I had a buddy who used to come wheeling with us all the time when I had my wrangler. He had an 05 trd off road. He showed us up many times, and never really had any issues at anything we threw at it. It just kept on trucking.

Without your front tires pulling you foward, its going to be tuff on inclines. Mudd is a no go with a 2wd.

But I say try it. You will never know unless you do it.

    Just take a rope
