After contacting Pedal commander they informed me my unit from my 15 tacoma would also be compatible for my 20 tacoma. So I drove from maine to jersey for work a couple times. On my 3rd trip back to jersey my truck got thrown into limp mode... truck would crank but wouldnt turn over. Check engine light came on, high at temp light came on, and smart stop and brake system mal light kept coming on and off. I got it towed to the dealer of course removing my pedal commander before hand... they said they couldn't trace anything to whatever codes were thrown and reset the check engine and has driven fine since. I will not be using the pedal commander on this truck anymore but my question is basically do you think there could have been any damage done?

"Limp mode" is the truck's way of preventing damage. If you didn't overheat, or lose oil, you're most likely just fine. Chalk it up to a computer hiccup.

Unless the pedal commander itself was faulty I doubt that was the problem. The wiring on the throttle input circuit is exactly the same on 2nd gen and 3rd gens. Like previous poster said, probably a fluke.
edit: I wouldn't suggest maxing the pedal commander out and flooring it, that may cause problems, but that would be the user's fault and not the device. Not saying you did that, just throwing it out there.

you’re not the only one. There’s some posts here regarding same issues as yours removing the PC solved their problems .

Yeah when talking with the tech at the dealership hes said they've been having problems even with insurance companies installing the driving habit monitors and those causing the same problem. I was just freaked out because when it happened my pedal commander wasnt even on‍♂️ I just am trying to just chalk it up as something from that throwing something that caused a chain reaction. Definitely made me miss my 15 though
