the seats in the limited are hard to beat!!! so comfy.. especially under the thighs where they have the extra padding.

I didn't think I'd care about all of the creature comforts in the limited, but now that I have them I don't know how I went without them!! (except for the moon roof... never really been a fan of those)

Sales people don't know shit. I had one the other week call me to tell me he had three OR 4x4 LB that just came in. I said really I then took off from work and went over there only to discover they were LB but they were either sports or SR5 Dude you can't tell the difference between a OR, Sport, and SR5. I won't be doing any business with this dealer

If the limited drives smoother over bumps and rough road than the TRD OR that you test drove, there was something wrong with the TRD OR. The hitachi shocks are tuned for pavement, not off road, so the ride will not be as soft in the Limited or TRD Sport. The TRD OR will have the softest suspension for a smoother ride over rough terrain/roads.

+1... ride quality is extremely subjective. My current car on KW's has all of 0.5" up-travel, maybe less. 4" of droop give or take. Corners like its on rails and settles after one stroke every. single. time. I love it and think the ride quality is top notch :D

However, it would surprise me if the Hitachi shocks are better than the Bilsteins.

Stiff suspension for sport on-pavement "performance" -- softer suspension for rough off road terrain. That is objective. Whether you prefer a stiffer ride or a softer ride is a subjective opinion.

Your right. Larger wheels and low profile tires amplify bumps in the road.

To the person who claims the Limited rides more smoothly than the offroad. I strongly disagree. I owned both. I drove the Limited almost 900 miles before trading it in. I currently own and have driven the TRD-OR about 400 miles. You can't make the same assessment that I have just based on your test drive of the OR at the dealer. I do agree that the limited was a little quitter due to the Michelin LTX road tires.

One of the reasons I got rid of the Limited was because the ride felt harsh to me driving over potholes and speedbumps and moderately well paved roads. I would not have traded it in at a loss and given up the JBL and leatherette seats if I was happy with the ride quality. The limited was overly stiff and jarring over the moderate to poor quality pavement in the suburbs of Philadelphia. The TRD-OR has a significantly cushier ride. I am simply commenting on straight line smoothness of ride quality not cornering or body roll or anything else. After driving the OR for 400 miles on the same roads my assessment is that the ride is better in the OR. I disagree with you and all the professional reviewers who have driven both for a short period of time who say otherwise. Like I said I actually owned both and drove both vehicles 30+ times each over the same roads before coming to my conclusion. Have you driven both over 30 times each on the same roads?

I did want to buy the blue TRD-OR at new Holland Toyota but they said it was on hold for 30 days for somebody who was trying to get 15k for the downpayment in order to be approved for a loan. They had special ordered it and waited 8-12 weeks for it to come in. Lancaster Toyota had an identical one and gave me the same deal so being impatient I bought from Lancaster instead. 2 days after New Holland called and said the deal fell through and the person couldn't afford the truck and asked if I still wanted it. Both dealerships were great to deal with. Im kind of happy the one I got is a texas truck, the new Holland Toyota one was/is a mexico truck.

In the end both the Limited and OR are great trucks and have their pros and cons. I loved both and was very torn but happy with my decision.

image.jpg My Sport 4x4 has the blue Hitachi shocks and in my opinion rides smoother than my wife's Lexus RX350. When I went to an off-road demo, I told them I bought a sport and they said it would be a smoother ride on road. They drove the off road from city to city all year doing the demos. I understand the theory though, just what they told me.

Good. Now I feel like I'm not crazy lol. I drove a Sport and an Offroad. I hit an elevated crosswalk at a pretty good speed in the Sport and found the front end to bounce excessively long (similar to that of a blown shock). I found the Sport suspension to be too soft. I like the Offroad suspension. But to me, any suspension would get taken off for aftermarket pretty fast anyway.

Did you put trd-off road wheels on your sport?

I wanted the TRD OR but actually needed the Limited. I say needed because of how I drive (mostly highway) AND the longer bed. I would have totally gotten the TRD OR if it had a long bed, but that limits its off road capabilities.

    First world problems.....

This makes no sense because the OR may have either a short or long bed while the Limited has ONLY the short bed.

Ahhhh, maybe in the 3rd Gen. That is EXACTLY backwards with the Gen 2. I got a Gen 2 and there was NO option for a long bed in the OR.

Been driving Toy trucks since 1977 and have always gone with the "off-road" models, TRD's or added aftermarket stuff (lockers, winches, tires, etc.). My Limited stays stock and I love the ride because I'm not any longer getting beat-up. Getting old changes your perspective on stuff you used to could not live without (such as manual tranny). Was into 4-wheeling for 30 years, now could care less about it. Don't miss the dirt, rocks, mud, body damage, or anything about it. What the hell is happening to me??

I also got the call about the blue OR at New Holland and had money down on it over the weekend but backed out and kept with my original build at my local dealer in Reading.

Can you explain how a long bed limits off road capabilities

This all makes a lot of sense to me. Depending on where you're from "small bumps" turn to large potholes. In Michigan the only thing with an acceptable suspension is one tuned for offroad use. I've seen 6" deep potholes on the way to work, it's not an uncommon thing.

Longer wheel base means it can get high centered more easily. It also increases the turn radius.
