I drive a 2013 regular cab 5 lug Tacoma and wish to add a sub in the back but want to keep the stock head unit. I installed a line output converter by tapping into the speaker wire but whenever I try to play a song I get a slight static noise coming from the sub. I have tried multiple grounding locations along with 3 different amps and no solution. I then bought a noise cancelation filter and that didn't work either. I also get the static noise when I run the speaker wire into the high level input on the amp. does anyone know what Im doing wrong or know a solution?

Are you running any speaker wires near other power wires? I had a car years ago that I ran an amp power wire right with the speaker wires and I got static and some engine whine.

What guage grounding wire are you using? Are you sanding the place you are connecting it to?

Also, where exactly did you tap the speaker wires? Do you have the JBL system? Was there a sub alredy in your truck?

No power wire running near the speaker wire. I'm using 4 gauge and sanded the ground area. The sub is aftermarket, no jbl system. I removed the headunit and tapped directly into the speaker plug.

Where are you getting your amp power from? Try running it directly from the battery.

I'm running 4 gauge power wire and my remote wire is directly from my battery. As for the line output converter I'm using the sound quest adjustable one. I've tried 2 more converters also( just Walmart ones) and had the same results.
