Yeah, the baked in SCT tunes run very hot and smoky compared to the custom ones I ran.

I heard QT no longer supports SCT tunes but someone like GearHead may still do. You drop them the VIN and mods and they should send a file that you can put on the SCT to flash. Their ready to go tunes should be good to go but make sure to get tunes that include support so they can adjust shift points or fueling based on your driving experience, truck, and needs.

It’s crazy to me how much is different from the 7.3 to the 6.0 even though it’s basically a smaller displacement 32 valve version of the same motor. Most companies that make parts and tunes focus on one or the other rather than both. Makes it really hard to do research because every time I find something new and exciting that’s different from the other products it’s just because some 6.0 shit got lumped into my search lol.

I am starting to look into what parts to order for the trans. Probably going to rebuilt it with some HD nice stuff before tackling the motor. Other than the couple little leaks (and big boost leak) the motor is sound, but the trans has been rebuilt twice (by the same company within 5,000mi…) and has sluggish shifts. So I’ll tackle that first, rather than my original plan which was let er blow up the second I drop the motor in

Now that is the best video I have seen in a while. You do know why they call them "Dodges" right?

Yeah, it is frustrating trying to find specifics. Especially when you're trying to diagnose an issue and searching terms that apply to both like ICP, EBP sensor, etc.

Because when you're working on them, you have to constantly dodge the mirrors
Exactly. Since most of my problems have been fuel and HPO related, they have all had some crossover results

    38gal Front Tank.jpg
38 gallon tank to replace the front 15 gallon. Accidentally found a part out on facebook and got it for cheap on my way into work this morning

This tank will increase my fuel capacity from 30gal to 53gal. So the extra 350mi range when towing will be very nice. Shit, once I have a 38gal bronco tank in the rear, my range will be 1200mi. That'll get me to KOH with 12 gallons to spare

That range will be nice. I'll be jealous.

Stopping every 200mi for fuel sucks, esp when you have to stop in small towns with fuel stations that require wrangling to get a trailer into

Exactly. This will allow me to have a few hundred miles to pick which fuel station I want to go to hah

Well it’s been quite some time since I posted here and said anything so I figured I’d throw some quick updates on here.

Tacoma: still a POS, but it’s back on DD duty. Since the last update I think the only charges are some billet upper control arms and a Baja onyx 6 on the front bumper. Snagged it at hammers after my headlights literally fell off the truck in the desert. PS pump has been screaming the last few days, so maybe I’ll look into that. Pretty sure I have another one somewhere in the garage.

Ford: lost almost all motivation to buy parts and build the new motor because of all of the work I have now put into the current one. It got new valve springs/seals/shims, injector o rings, injector harnesses, glow plugs, glow plug relay, water pump, PS pump, and fuel pump before the trip to hammers. The 4sp slush box lost overdrive after the trip, so a 6mt is on the table getting a full rebuild to be swapped in.

4Runner: one of my closest friends bought a 1989 4Runner a few months ago that had been SASd a while back by addicted off road. Awesome truck that needs a lot of work. Work needed increased about a week after he bought the truck when the head gasket blew and required an entire motor rebuild. Spent 3.5 months at my house while machine work and parts took forever to show up. Finally got it running and out today!

Garage work: have the ability to pull 2 trucks in at a time with working space for table/bench work and work on a truck. Can even get the ford in there. Have a sub panel and a ton of conduit to install for welder/future plasma outlets. Also need to wire up the new compressor I got from work. 80gal 5hp belt driven compressor should keep up with anything I ever need.

Next up: finish the trans swap on the ford. Need to cut the LCAs off of the Tacoma and do some front end work, definitely cranking the COs up a couple of inches for more belly clearance. Then normal prep work for BOTW down in Montrose
