Also forgot to post anything on here about fitting 40s. Giant firewall tub, tube fender supports. The truck works really well on 40s. Axles are holding up much better with these than the 37s

Good point. Haven’t updated here in forever. Back around February/March some time I pulled the drivetrain. I opened my own shop back in march so the Tacoma sat from that day until about a month ago. I took some time to mount the drivetrain and get started on the roll cage. Drivetrain is a bit custom but fairly simple. LQ4 (6.0 LS block) with 862 (5.3L LS heads). The low lift truck cam, smaller intake runners, as well as the compression built by the new head gasket and pistons should have my compression ratio around 11:1 and should make this a torque monster on the bottom end of the RPM band. Transmission is a 4L80e with some small upgrades and a reverse manual valve body for a reverse rock gate shifter. Transfer case is a NP205 with an ORD under drive and triple sticks. Cage is from TE Designs. The engine/trans are empty right now, so once the cage is done I’ll pull the drivetrain to build everything out

Not much to share, hopefully more in the semi near future. I’m very lucky that the shop has been super busy ever since I opened it, which has prevented me from working on the taco. Over the next week I’ll be moving into a larger shop and hiring my first tech, so the Tacoma will be stored in a much more workable space, hopefully meaning I get some more done on it since it won’t be 2+ hours of moving stuff around just to get access to work on it lol

Here are some update pictures. Last time I touched it was in January lol. Cage is 90% tacked together and the drivetrain mounts are complete

Congrats on the shop expansion... Yeah owning your own business tends to make you put all your projects on the back burner...

Looking forward to the rest of the build...

Damn. The 40s look great. I made the jump from 35s to 37s earlier this summer (what a pita to tub) and now I already have tire envy lol.
