Unless the kid was holding a gun or attempting to cut you with a machete, you should be able to take down an 8 year old. Come on.

    This ^

They should bring beatings in school back, as kids no longer have the fear of god.

They're totally right, it's completely unnecessary for cops to use the spray on the kid when there are perfectly capable school staff available to spray the kid.. less taxpayer expense

Yup! That is important. Here is how my parents disciplined me (I thank them for it) and how I plan do discipline my children:

After doing something I wasn't suppossed to do (that I knew was wrong), My mom or dad would send me to my room, and they'd go get the belt and a Bible. They would then explain exactly what I did wrong and made sure that I understood it was wrong. They would then read specific scripture verses, regarding what I'd done, to show me why it was bad. They would then spank me until my will was broken. If I was mad or disrespectful toward them after the spankings I would get more! We would then pray and ask God's forgiveness. My parents and I were always best friends after these discipline sessions.

I apologize if that seems a little weird... but I do agree that discipline, without making sure the kid knows why what he did is wrong, is not effective.

This does not excuse the kid's bahavior though and I think that the police had every right to use pepper spray in the situation. From the information I have, it sounds like the teachers had already tried reasoning with him.

hahahaha!!! The schools should allow teachers to use these on unruly students...

or the normal method as your being wailed on your parent yells "if you do that again you're dead!" gets the point across

That last part made me laugh really hard but the rest is true and you have great parents. We need to stop babying our children so much. Kid's these days are soft, ignorant and ill prepared for the real world.

Unfortunately yes, most teens and some twenty-year-olds I know act just like little kids most of the time.

Facts I life meaning few people have the luxury of doing what we want all the time. We make sacrifices in out professions or lifestyles depending on the situation. You can't always do what you want regardless of environment and at any age.

Im confused about the liberal weirdos on here and elsewhere saying pepperspray is excessive. My Lord, it only causes PAIN and it hurts LESS than a spanking! What is wrong with you people? And saying you are not a MAN if you cant handle an 8 year old with a sharp stick? First of all, there is no reason they should RISK getting poked, cut, or infected and physically "handling" him is more more fuel for a lawsuit with a piece of crap excuse for humanity that those parents are. Second, the kid DESERVED the spraying... Id go as far as to say he NEEDED that pepperspraying at a MINIMUM!

Shows just what kinda parent the mother is. After trying to kill his teachers and tearing down the walls he is up showing off all his toys and dog. I bet he has faced zero punishment. He still has everything, and I would think taking away all fun stuff would be minimum punishment for this case.

That is not quite what you said earlier, that "monotonous work and boring surrounding are a fact of life", which I disputed. That is a far cry from merely not doing what one wants to all the time. It may speak more to your experience than to reality.

Within the law, I do as I please. If I would rather have an extra hour or two each week than $500 up front or so, that is a choice I make in order to improve my lot, and there are times when I have declined offers because I did not think the monotony was worth the money. This is a far cry from the prison-like schools where one must do monotonous task X at time Y for six hours on end, with maybe a bit more flexibility regarding homework.

I simply mean people are subject to monotonous and boring jobs not because they are brainwashed products of the public school system. A lot of individuals don't have the luxury of turning down extra money for free time due to whatever responsibilities they have.

At my age (reasonably young) I CHOOSE to work at a job that pays me better than the average medium income but in turn it's not what I would ideally want to do. You and I both compromised one for the other and have different views. That's all.
