Had a guy back into me in a parking lot this afternoon, minimal damage on the exterior. The question is, what should I look for that could be damaged on the inside. He's a friend so I'm not likely to take it to insurance if its a nonissue or a quick fix For reference, it was a honda minivan. sits pretty low, hence the low scuff.

I've already forgot about that scratch. You should too.

I would bet that there is zero damage to anything behind the bumper and all damage is purely cosmetic.

At most maybe a scratch on the aluminum crash bar and maybe a broken plastic clip holding part of the bumper on.

I personally wouldn’t even worry about it.

Thanks guys, just double checked under the hood and under front end, the plastic damage is right in front of the crash bar...nothing behind it got hurt, checked all breakable clips on the front (bumper, headlights, foglights, etc) nothing wrong i can see

Agreed. As bad as it hurts your feelings that your baby got scuffed, it’s just a truck.

Did your friend at least offer to pay? Personally, I'd just chalk it up to people not paying attention to driving. It's a freaking epidemic!

That’s not a scuff. There is a tear through the bumper cover. Your friend would offer to pony up the dough if he was a friend. A scuff is one thing but that’s damage that will have to be replaced for a sale.

Nothing would be damaged, plastic clip at worst. If it were me, and they are a friend, I would say no worries. Everyone makes mistakes. Sucks, but I would hardly ding a friend's insurance over that. Hit her with a little wet sanding and polish out what you can. If you were to take it in to get repaired, that's gonna probably be a new cover and paint, grand plus easy.

Had a similar thing happen to me, except it was a mailman backing out of a parking space and smacked me, even though I was honking. I was pulling in the space next to them, but stopped, as some children ran across the space I was pulling into so that they could get in their parent's car. I got out, mailman got out, I went to look to see how bad it was, just a little ding, but right through the plastic. I was about to tell him, eh... no worries, didn't mean to, shit happens. Before I could get the words out he decided to be the biggest asshole on the planet. Welp... fuck you buddy. "If you want to make a claim, we have to call the police, since I am a state employee" eat a bag of dicks bro. Had you been nice, I totally wouldn't have cared. Cashed that $1500 check and still never fixed it.

Am I the only one who sees the plastic is ripped through? People keep saying scuff and plastic clip. WTF?

Rip scuff. Potato Potato. OP said it was a friend. Shop will put a new cover on that, plus paint, won't be cheap. Is anything "broken"? Maybe a clip for the cover. Hardly going to be a bent rad support.

Agreed it’s more than a scuff. But resale value depends on the buyer. That small tear wouldn’t stop me from paying full asking price, I doubt that it would decrease value at all actually unless you’re selling it to some sissy perfectionist. Just my opinion, I wouldn’t do anything to it, adds character.

Could it be drugs hidden in the bumper we see? Detective Hobbs got this.
